2007 350z vs 2006 GTO

of the 2 choices i vote gto. never been a fan of the z and the gto is a solid car all around, plus can't go wrong with an LS motor. if i were looking for an impractical rwd car in that price range i'd also consider a c5 z06

your laying down 31K! damn dude just buy an evo, it'l be faster and in my opinion better looking, but I'd lean at the Z too

The GTO is a better deal if you can find a leftover 06 on a dealer lot. There is afew where I live for 8K under list. Plus the GTO is better built then the 350z. GTOs are basically rare on the road unlike the Zs are everywhere. Also the GTO has a betterwarranty then the Z. 5yr/100K vs 3yr/36k. There is alot more performance parts for the GTO because of its GM motor.

This is my cousin's 06 GTO that make 575hp.

I like that color, its unique.

The GTO has a modicum of practicality. You can squeeze 4 in there in a pinch and once again, nicer interior than the vette even though the vette handles better and goes faster.

Yeah, both cars are nice.

The Z is nice, I was talking to a friend that runs 13.1 with his 05 (modded)and says he "LOVES IT" and has "NO COMPLAINTS" ....so I got that asure, plus I assume the 07 is WAY better. I get the same feedback from the GTO forums and well, the lack of 06 GTOs on sale clearly shows that none wants to get rid of them.

Tough battle.

buy the gto, ive driven both and im a nissan fan but the raw power of the gto plus its way more comfortable makes it a better car and bargain for the money....you really need to drive a six speed gto.....

My buddy usually never revs past 2500-3000 rpms when town driving, it doesn't need to since the torque down low is amazing! You dont have to rev it much to feel power. Actually we are planning on taking my buddies GTO from Wisconsin to Myrtle Beach driving straight through because it is so comfortable. They are very practical for a muscle car, but if it was my choice I would probably take the Z, but that's coming from a guy who only needs a driver seat in my car.

Yah I only need one passenger seat, im usually driving by myself with the usual friend/gf as co-pilot...really rare do i get to use the back seast..usually when someone needs to be taken to their house because they aint got a ride from the party...thats about it. I mean, most of the time its cool, but im pretty sure there are moments where you will be like..."s***..."

I'm probably the wrong person to listen to here, but I absolutely hate the GTO, and I'd get the z.

The z just seemed more fun to drive for me. The GTO still suffered from GM floaty steering (though worlds better than any GM car I've ever driven.) The styling of the GTO is just too bland for me. I don't say "wow, there's a GTO" when driving around. I do, however, turn my head and say "very nice, a Z!" when I see one of those pass.

GTO has more power, but I just like the Z a lot better.

yeah, i guess the GTO has the same feel as the STi. Only car enthusiasts like it (men)...those that appreciate muscle cars except a few (the domestics vs import thing..). The is overall, car enthusiasts like it, and non-car enth. like it as well cuz its nice. I asked a friend (chick) what she thought about the GTO and the first thing she said is "OK, before i give me opinion; is this the car of a loved one or is it in anyway related to you?"...lol, that cant be good. Then I showed her the Z and she said "Oh yeah, that car is nice!". hehe. But sometimes you also have to get what/the car you like and dont care what others think; you'll live a better life that way.

For sure the Z is the better driving car and the styling is more eye catching. But unless I frequented a track I'd take the GTO everytime.

Great long distance cruiser, incognito styling make it look mature and restrained. And its actually somewhat rare.

Plus nothing like the creamy thrust of an 6.0L LS2 V8 as you sink back into soft leather and bomb down the highway to plaster a grin on your face.

Another Vote for the Goat!

I've been in the exact same boat as you, looking to get rid of my msp and my top two choices were the GTO and 350z. I sat in the Z and didnt like it, horrible blind spots and quite odd storage for the interior. I'm looking for something as a daily driver. The GTO gets you a boatload of power and is awesome to smash the gas in, you can't beat the sound of the gurgling V8. I think the 350 takes the edge on exterior styling and is a bit more nimble. But the GTO responds incredibly well to mods (headers/exhaust can put you at like 375rwhp, add a cam and that number goes to way over 400whp) and the interior is nicer on the Goat. Those seats are great and plus is has the 2 in the back if you ever needed it. For me, as a daily driver, I think the goat wins hands down, more space, more comfort, great gas mileage still with all that power, and it can carry 4 if needed. I enjoyed driving the gto a lot more, it seems more on par as a luxury sports coupe than just an all out sports coupe.

I need to drive one, but they are SO HARD to find. Plus, its kind of a pain in the ass when salesmen get all over you and wont let you go...they aint that stupid, i know I would let anyone go that easy if they wanted a test drive.

lets see how it goes; currently busy working, but whenever I get off, im off.

i never liked the Z, and I'll never buy a pontiac, or any GM for that matter. So personally, I'd find something else.

If I didn't care about mpg, resale, reliability etc, I'd get the goat anyways. They are a nice looking car, and you can't deny that engine.

Buy the GTO, I was in the same situation last year. I bought the GTO and never looked back, plain and simple the GTO is BADASS! You get the whole package. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Man it seems like the GTO is very popular on this forum. Good to see support for a much underappreciated car.

Hey, your sig says your GTO got totalled. What happened? Did you get another one?

Instead of re-typing what happened I just took this from LS2GTO.com

Well, my goat is no more. Yesterday at about 9:30 P.M. I was taking one of my friends home and was getting on 270 south towards 55 from Tesson Ferry Rd. I was in the far right hand lane and there was a truck in front of me going pretty slow maybe 25-30 mph and I proceeded to pass him at between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. Out of nowhere the backend kicks out so I try to correct and counter steer a little which ended up being to much and my car caught the side/lip of the road and flipped my car. The car came to a stop upside down, airbags did not go off, me and my buddy crawled out the passanger window, and waited for police to arrive.

The car is obviously totaled, it really sucks because I just had it professionaly detailed not more than 5 hours before this, man and I thought the swirl marks were my biggest problem. Now I have to wait and see if my insurance drops me. I could understand if I was hotroding around and it happened, but I was not doing anything wrong. God, I'm so depressed.

I have yet to get another one. I will own another one as soon as I can dump the Lexus. I miss everything about that car, everyday. I would buy another one in second, without a doubt.

The Goat is one bad machine however, I have yet to see anyone mention resale value. I'm a huge LS fan (I own a Z06 Vette) and I was going to purchase a GTO until I researched the resale value and it's below horrible, it stinks. That reason alone pushed me to the vette. If you plan to keep the car long-term, then go for it, but if you only plan on driving it a few years you may want to think twice. The 350Z is a nice car, but it all depends on what your looking for. As someone already mentioned it has huge blind spots and for me, it wasn't bad, but it also didn't give me the "WOW Factor" I was looking for. They do have allot of untapped performance but again it's all in what your looking for and what your willing to spend to reach your performance desire.
