2006 - The "Wii" Want To Help Raffle!

Hey Ken,

I saw on the Wii Anyone thread that you bought the component cables for it.

Are they worth buying even though the wii cant produce HD resolutions?

There are even some third party ones that are going to be pretty cheap.

Thanks.

Bob

From what I have read and seen, the component cables are absolutely worth it, even without HD.

Checkout the component cable vs. standard cable screenshots in this gamespot review. If my TV supported Component cables I would definetly get a set.

Well I didn't win the Wii, I got lucky and scored one in a Toysrus.com release and it should arrive on Tuesday. :)

Yeah, I'd imagine so. I haven't picked up components for my ps2 just because I only have one set of 'em on my tv. I'd have to buy another set of component cables and manage video through my Harmon Kardon tuner rather than the TV itself. The tuner has 3 component ins, and a few DVI's as well.

Basically, you have three of everything. Vid 1 2 and 3. Each vid input has an RCA, Component, and DVI, with an accompanying optical audio input.

I <3 good tuner design.

the component cables are awesome, i bought them from nintendo.com and they came fast. the wii can produce an EDTV resolution of 480p, which still looks better than your run of the mill composite or coax connection.

thanks for all the support on my choice! My brother, the Marine got me into toys for tots, and since then it has been a great charity to donate towards especially during this time of year. $600 will buy alot of presents for needy children.

Alos thanks for all the input on the cables. Looks like nintendo.com is on back order for the component cables so ill just wait till after the holidays to pick up a set.
