Subaru of America, Inc. has introduced the Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B performance sedan and will offer just 500 of these special cars for model year 2006. Previously only offered in <st1:country-region><ST1:plJapan, </ST1:p</st1:country-region>and <ST1:pEurope</ST1:p, <st1:country-region><ST1:pU.S. </ST1:p</st1:country-region>version of the spec.B pairs the performance of the 250- horsepower intercooled turbo Boxer engine in the Legacy 2.5 GT Limited Sedan, with exclusive suspension enhancements along with unique design elements and interior features. The Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B, the newest offering from <st1:country-region><ST1:pAmerica</ST1:p</st1:country-region>'s <st1:Street><st1:address>All-Wheel Drive</st1:address></st1:Street> leader, stands as the ultimate Subaru Legacy. <O:p</O:p

The Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B is available exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission and, like all Subaru models, features <st1:Street><st1:address>Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive</st1:address></st1:Street> as standard equipment. Like the Subaru Impreza(R) WRX(R) and WRX STI(R) models, the Legacy spec.B built a loyal following in <st1:country-region><ST1:pJapan </ST1:p</st1:country-region>and <ST1:pEurope</ST1:p before coming to the <st1:country-region><ST1:pUnited States</ST1:p</st1:country-region>. As it did with the WRX and WRX STI models, Subaru designed a version of the Legacy spec.B specially tailored for <st1:country-region><ST1:pU.S.</ST1:p</st1:country-region> customers.<O:p</O:p

The Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B is quickly identified by its exclusive Titanium Silver Metallic exterior color and aerodynamic side ground-effects moldings with chrome trim. The road-hugging stance of the spec.B is further accentuated by unique 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and 215/45 low profile performance tires that work with the suspension upgrades to deliver improved handling performance. (The standard 2.5 GT Limited Sedan features 17-inch alloy wheels.)<O:p</O:p

More than just a pretty face <O:p</O:p

The taut suspension of the Legacy 2.5 GT Limited has been thoroughly revised for even sharper response and greater road feel in the Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B. The exclusive Bilstein Sport Suspension equips the Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B model with performance-tuned shock absorbers for flatter cornering response.<O:p</O:p

Subaru engineers also replaced the MacPherson strut front suspension with an inverted strut configuration similar to that in the rally-bred Impreza WRX STI, including aluminum-alloy lower control arms. The multi-link rear suspension gains aluminum-alloy rear arms and upper links in place of cast- iron pieces to reduce unsprung weight (and thereby enhance handling response). Finally, the 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted with 215/45 R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A summer performance tires.<O:p</O:p

Exclusive spec.B interior <O:p</O:p

The striking Brick Red leather trimmed upholstery highlights the unique interior styling of the Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B. The distinctive interior is further differentiated from the 2.5 GT Limited model by aluminum-alloy pedal covers, a 3-spoke MOMO(R) leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, "spec.B" floor mats and an individually numbered limited-edition plaque.<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p
The Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B further builds on the generous standard equipment of the 2.5 GT Limited Sedan, adding the new Subaru Navigation System and an upgraded audio system with MP3 capability. Standard features shared with the 2.5 GT Limited Sedan include dual-zone automatic climate control, performance- design front seats, power moonroof, an 8-way power driver's seat and a 4-way power passenger seat (both with 4-stage heating) and heated exterior mirrors. All Legacy models for 2006 feature, as standard equipment, Subaru Advanced Frontal Air Bag System, front seat side impact air bags, active front seat head restraints and side curtain air bags.<O:p</O:p

Big power, confident control <O:p</O:p

The 2.5-liter intercooled turbo Boxer engine in the spec.B produces 250 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of peak torque @ 3,600 rpm. Putting the power down is the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive which, when teamed with a 5-speed manual transmission as in the Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B, employs a viscous-coupling locking center differential with a 50:50 torque split. Slippage at the front or rear wheels will transfer more power to the opposite set.<O:p</O:p

A 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Legacy models. The 2.5 GT Limited and 2.5 GT spec.B models employ larger brake rotors than other Legacy models, with ventilated rear discs in place of solid discs.<O:p</O:p

So this is just a Legacy GT Limited with sport suspension, larger rims, and different interior then my 05 Legacy GT? It needs a spoiler and the H6 Boxer 6cyl.<O:p</O:p

i assume you are joking but i have put that suspension on a US 2.5GT and its nothing to scoff at the US spec suspension is terrible compared to the bilstien dampers. Also the H6 puts out as much HP and has less potential than the 2.5L in fact the 2.0L GT in japan is the premier model as it outputs more than the H6 model

That car is dead sexy. but not nearly as sexy as my RX-8 ;) But still, if I had a bigger budget, that would be it over the 6 anyday.

The Bilsteins should be standard on all LGT models. The first chance I get my LGT is getting Bilstien sports and different coil springs. The Spec B in Europe has the H6 as the standard engine. Some people that are cross shopping this car with either a BMW 325/330 or Lexus IS will most likely buy the BMW or Lexus because they want a smooth running 6 cyl not a turbo. I would think Subaru would sell the Legacy H6 here to get these cross shoppers. They sell the Outback with the H6.

just just a damn legacy gt with ugly red leather 18ich wheels and soft bilistein suspension. You can get a GT and mod it for cheaper.

Thumbs up on the interior, thumbs down on the exterior. Looks like something Toyota would make.

You mean Lexus? Toyotas are so much uglier then the Leg. This package needs a rear spoiler and something else to set it apart from the base and GT models.

So how much different, engine wise, is this from the STI?? I mean, if you can get the same power out of it with mods like you can a modded STI, that would be the s***!!!

if that car came w/ 50-80 extra HP (and in a wagon), THAT would be news.

as it stands, i'll take a 6s, if only b/c it actually comes with a decent suspension.

and at the $34k mark: i second the 6spd G35, and spend a few bucks on snow tires. G35s are teh nice.

The Legecy GT has the same 2.5L motor as the WRX STI. Its just as been detuned from 300 hp to 250hp.

It will be news when the Legacy STI sedan and sport wagon shows up here. Out of the box the 6s does have a better suspension then the regular legecy. I know someone that autoxs a 05 modded Legacy GT thats handling is on par with BMW E36 M3s.

The problem with the G35 coupe I would never get out of my driveway with RWD and thats even with snows. You have to buy very large snows for the G35. With the Legacy the all seasons are awesome in the snow.

this is not true, to my knowledge they mainly share their displacement. one is open deck, the other is closed. the new regular WRX motor has more in common with the LGT then the STI does.

The Legacy GT and STI use the some 2.5L.

"The all important on drive features, have once again received significant touches with the same engine used in the Impreza WRX STi, but detuned in this application, with more than 80 extra horsepower. The US-spec Legacy GT model will now have a turbocharged 2.5L 4 cylinder boxer engine featuring AVCS variable valve timing. This US-spec engine is larger than the Japan-spec 2.0L turbo engine, but the Japanese engine has a higher power output of 280 hp, versus the 250 hp of the US-spec engine."

Yeah I knew that the motors where the same. I was wondering if you put an dSTI tune on the Legacy ECU if it would be the same. I was looking at one of these and it I can get 400hp out of the Legacy like you can on the STI on the stock block, then that would be the s***.

Oh yeah, screw a 2wd G35 when you can get AWD. Those G35's aren't all that great anyway, I can spank them in my FWD POS.
