I've been looking at these cars, and they look pretty sharp. I currenty have an 04 subaru wrx stg 2. I kinda wanna stay with the turbo charged cars rather then going with a v8. How much boost do these cars have stock? Are they easily modified, I know the wrx is a pain to get more power out of.. Thanks!

Also how comparable is the auto compaired to the 6 speed? I think its got the paddle shifters, But i know in the wrx it lacks off the line response in the auto, takes longer to spool ect, also the awd may be part of that prob.

They don't make an auto for the MS3. (thank god). Boost levels are controlled by the ECU programing. There's not much out for mods as the car is brand new. Lastly there was no 2006 MS3. They're all 2007's.

Thanks!, I know the boost is controlled by the ecu, same with my wrx, but does anyone have a boost gauge to see how much it's pushing? With my stg 2 I hit almost 16psi. ok I had a diff car in mind as an auto. Are they ok to put on a blow off valve? I know with my car it'll make it run rich, we've got bypass valves.

boost on the stock Speed 3's is 15-16psi....i believe its 16psi.

there is not auto tranny available....just 6-speed....

also the Speed3 is not AWD.....only the Speed6 is AWD....Speed3 is FWD..and im not sure what type of traction control it uses, if any.

if i remember correctly the hp to tq ratio is 254bhp and 274btq...but i may be wrong im sure someone will correct mew if i am.....and thats to the crank....not to the wheels.

263hp/280tq at the crank on the speed 3 the current dyno's are showing up with around 220 to the wheels but that might now be accurate because these cars have a TMIC and when they do dyno's they may not be cooling the TMIC enough to to give it the power it really has.

people are already running blow off valves, but the car runs very rich stock, as evidenced by the black soot on my tail pipe. Mods are going to be coming soon, cobb is working on accessport and XEDE has already dynod there chip at 290 whp and over 300 torque. I am sure that tuning options will be decent. Mazda is releasing a CAI and exhaust that will add another 30whp and 35lbs of torque and keep your waranty. People with boost gauges have been getting 10-12 psi of boost in 1st and second and 13-15 psi in 3rd-6th. You should test drive one, they are very fun to drive and a great package for the money.

16.5 psi according to C&D.

I've never owned a turbo-charged car before, so frankly... I don't know how much is too much or too little. ^_^;;

So far, everyone is accurate.

The car is limited by the ECU. It boosts only up to 10psi in 1st and 2nd gear. That is to control wheel spin and torque steer. From 3rd and up, the ecu gives you full boost at 16psi.

The MS3 is FWD so torque steer and traction is a major issue.

so the cx-7 is boosting about the same as the ms3, what i know the cx7 has the same engine but its hp is reduced to 244hp

yeah CX-7, MS3 and MS6 all have the same engine....just all have different tuned ECU's....thats why alot of the intercooler upgrades are basically the same for each car.

but sucks CX-7 got shorted in the Hp and TQ department compared to the
MS3 and the MS6.

I would venture to guess the overall HP is the same in the Speed 3 as it is in the Speed 6 with the exception of the first two gears of course. The 7 Hp less rating is a common thing for car companies to do (example: Nissan Altima 3.5 and the Nissan Maxima), since the 6 is more expensive. The CX7 is truly less HP because the boost is set lower thoughout, but that would be an ECU modification I'd pursue if I were a CX7 owner. The CX7 is truly detuned, so numbers wise it will be able to get the biggest jump when ECU tuning becomes available. :)
