2004 Tribute Sunroof Problem - track alignment

I'm looking for some help on what to do with my sunroof. A couple months ago I had an issue with my sunroof not closing. It would close all but 2 inches. I opened it and tried to close it again, but it stopped 2 inches open.

I noticed the roof was pushing harder on one side than the other and unscrewed the lagging side to allow the roof to close all the way. The other side sat fine on the track.

When I took the car in for repair they told me the roof was ruined and would cost $1400 in parts and 6 hours of labor!

I've had problems before with this roof not closing/opening (not moving at all) and they would just replace the switch, or so they told me under warranty. Well, the roof isn't under warranty any more. I doubt they were related, but this whole sunroof RUINED business has me wondering.

I talked to another shop (sunroof/upholstery), after my $84 diagnostic fee and I was told $275 for installation if I brought my own roof. I was told this could happen for $300-400 at a junk yard.

I appreciate any help. I'm game for replacing the roof or repairing it and open to other methods, but for $2,000 I'll likely just be using duct-tape.
