2003 mazda P5 dash

can anyone tell me if the dash lights can be changed from the "pukey" orange color to (maybe)white on the mazda P5 ,thanks

There's a how to on here somewhere. Try googling "how to change dash lights mazdas247" or something like that. @ least, there's a how to do the a/c controls on here as well as a how to to change the gauge cluster lights out. IMO ,its not worth the hassle (after having contemplated it myself) but its entirely up to you!

Here ya go! That's the write up I looked at. I would love to change out the bulbs but im too lazy to go through that hassle.

Just an FYI, red dash lights are better for night driving. Something to do with the cones in your eyes not having to adjust when looking into the dark.

tweety: that color looks nice if i cam get that w/o having to take the film off, i may do that.

Rit: thats sort of like lights, isn't it? The yellows on the spectrum are "kinder" to the eyes where the blues, the eyes have a little bit harder times to adjust? I read an article the other day RE yellow fog lamps and all... That's kind of what i got from it!

I will warn you that getting into the gauge cluster isn't for the faint of heart...there are lots of little tabs and things that can be broken in there. I'm not saying, "Don't do it" but be really careful, take your time and have a nice, clean workspace where you can set all of the parts you remove.

Once you get it out its simple but everything in it is super frageela.

Well since there's a red layer of film on the gauge face, couldn't we just pick up some yellow lights?? I may try this in the near future... I heard that its just a slip-on cover on the bulbs to make it more red? If thats the case, im sure we can pick up yellow covers?

Yes, if you remove the rubber sleeves from the bulbs it makes it brighter but also make the lights more orange, like a pumpkin. I didn't personally like it, and I like having the lights a bit on the dim side. I do a lot of driving at night on my deliveries and bright lights stress my sensitive blue eyes (rolleyes) lol

I rarely drive at night but when I do, I have my gauge lights up all the way...

the brightness on my stereo is ridiculously bright. It makes all my other interior lights look so dim. And that's with the summer wire hooked up so it dims ever so slightly.

If you pick the lights up from AutoZone or somewhere else, do they already have the sleeves on the lights? If thats the case, i should imagine they sell bulbs with yellow sleeves?

To go somewhat awkwardly back to the OPs orig. question, I also dont think we can do white, come to think of it, unless we use LEDs and stuff. Does anyone know what the Millenia used for their Optitron gauges (or whatever they were called)? I just was wondering. That would look out of place in our cars IMO. Too "luxurious" from my viewpoint.
