2002 P5 Xtreme edition (caution: hilarity inside)

So you wanna trade for those seats??? lol those are hot looking from what the pics show.

my seats look like that but they are navy blue and silver. door panels to match =)

got them installed right after I bought the car in early 2003.

Mine are from Katskins in Cali. $1700 installed. VERY VERY comfy too

i may buy it to sell it! nahh. I'm having a tough time passing up the car. I like the seats and agree they are cold in the winter but they are definitely comfortable. The tires I looked at were $759 installed - but I only went to one place - Costco. (Don't say it!!). Pilot Exalta's I believe. I'll try some tire shops around here. As for the window through insurance. Here in Canada that's the last thing you want to do. I don't know of anyone that has glass coverage for their car. It's just not worth it. Over the lifetime of owning a car you could have bought 3 or 4 windshields for the premiums paid and of course the insurance rate goes up when you claim. Not cool.

So in terms of what you think it's worth... does anyone think it's worth around $12,000 ?? (Canadian... not that there's much difference anymore)

you guys kill me. I can assure you it came from the dealer that way. Whether or not it was jacked up - who cares. Pay for what you want and be happy. Here are some pics.

you can see the bolts where the stock air intake was bolted too..

What is that funky wire leading off the engine into/under the front grill...It looks like it's been smashed by the hood....????

**EDIT** Oh yeah....make them detail that damn thing inside and out...especially that engine bay...that's a sorry sight..

DUDE! NO WAY! The extreme edition also came with a dog! awesome...hahah

but my 03 p5 came with leather, yellow, moonroof, kinda rare ive actually found out...

yup... an engine block heater cord it is... as for being smashed... i don't think so. Maybe it's the lighting in the garage. I'll take a closer look.

furthermore... any recommendations on cleaning that engine bay? Wrap a bag around the air intake? Would you go to a wand wash that has the low pressure engine wands? I don't think i've ever washed an engine bay... obviously (more hilarity).

cover the air filter, go at it with some degreaser cut with water and a terry cloth. some people say its ok to hose down the bay, but the fact is our cars have alot exposed wire wise, and better safe than sorry.

you can also get black magic engine cleaner. basically warm the engine up, spray it down on all surfaces, but try not to soak the wires. let it sit, and then wipe it down with a terry cloth. you can also spray a little water on some areas with a water bottle while your wiping down as well.

^^^ Hosing down the engine is fine - I do it all the time. Just like you said, get her warmed up, spray degreaser all over the place (I prefer Simple Green), let it sit for a bit then spray off with water. You can let it air dry but for a better look go in there with a cotton cloth. Just make sure everything is sealed/torqued down. I left my fuel rail loose one time and cleaned the engine bay - that wasn't fun (bang)

Thanks for the great advice! I'll be doing that tomorrow. May be hard giving it back. I detailed the inside and wanted to return it clean as a 'thank you' for borrowing it for two weeks.

eh, last year i hosed down my bay, and it fried my spark plug wires.

never again will i do that to my car. plus i dont let my bay get dirty enough to hose it down anyway.

on my customers cars i do the process i mentioned in my post above, but thats all personal preference. there are professional detailers that pressure wash the engine bay down, but im no professional, and dont recommend it.

you can get seat heaters. The pad for the bottom cushion is very easy to install and should be sufficient.

Doesn't matter what the difference in currency is the value of a used car changes from city to city.

$1200 is pretty steep I think. It depends on the area though.
I paid that for mine in 2005 or so.

Turns out the magnaflow exhaust is not just an exhaust but new headers and the rest right back. And the air intake was also aftermarket. New in 2002, she paid just over $32000 for it. I know that seems pretty crazy doesn't it? But with the options and the leather seats etc., it explains a lot. I should have asked her first about the history. Anyway... thanks for all the help on here. I'll have to look into the heated seat mod and see how hard that is. As well that mod with leaving the fogs on only instead of the headlights or even just the parking lights instead of headlight on all the time sounds great. My Tacoma is like that.

yup... 32K. Back in the day when our Canadian dollar was worth S**T compared to the US. I went to Hawaii for Christmas in 2002 and I think the exchange rate was 30+ percent. $1 CAD = $0.70 USD. Definitely wasn't fun times.

I'll have to see if she has the dealer decal and take a pic of it.
