2001 Protege Battery Issue

Does anyone have familiarity with Protege charging systems? On cold nights, my Protege won't start. Checked the fluid level in the battery and it was fine. I checked the battery voltage with no load across the terminals and it shows 12.79 volts. Did a load test with a multimeter and got 14.4 average charging voltage and the battery only dipped to 10.5 V min. under load. The next day the car would barely start. There is no parasitic draw so I am baffled. The battery is old but why would all voltage indicators show that it is good. Am I missing something or are there other tests to confirm the battery is good? Any help would be appreciated!

How old is the battery? Also, amperage of the battery is just as important as voltage. Your battery is most likely not providing enough amps. Will most likely need to purchase a new battery.

You can take the battery to an Autozone, they will usually check the battery for free.
