2001 mazda protege SE

Hi,

I am looking at buying a SE model (base protege model with auto /air)
and it has 1 2 and D for gears, i dont see overdrive. Specs on the net say it comes with a 105hp 4gear auto or 5 manual, id prefer manual but for the price (86 year old guy put 20000km on it and gave up driving) i cant say no. Does this car auto shift to overdrive if you leave it in Drive?

there was no SE. Maybe ES? but that's not going to be teh base model...
