2001 Mazda Protege Lost engine power while driving...Help

Code said bad crankshaft position senser and ground wire short to or from ecm. Going to change sensor first and if it doesn't crank then try and figure out what to do with the short in ground.

Some people had this issue, and the crank sensor wire was rubbing on the engine, wore through and shorted out the signal.

If the issue isn't resolved by replacing the CKP sensor, the short in the ground wire may be causing the ECM to receive improper signals. Begin by visually inspecting the ground wire for any signs of fraying, damage, or corrosion. The ground wire for the ECM is typically black and runs from the ECM to the engine or chassis ground.
