2001 626ES 2.5L MT needs new engine

I need a new engine for my car. Will an engine out of a 2000-2002 automatic 626 work.? The Internet wrecking yard data bases specify MT or AT. Are there any issues of compatibility between the mt or at. My mechanic thinks they are the same other than the flywheel. Thanks in advance for any information.

any 98-02 motor will work. you could even make a 93-97 engine work, but would have to swap your rear head, and alot of small stuff like the ignition set up, intake mani, crank pulley and so on.

tranny doesnt matter. as you would just swap your old stuff onto the new motor.
