2000 protege automatic trans problems

I have a 2000 protege 1.6 engine automatic trans. Car shifts first gear fine but when it suppose to go into 2nd gear the car revs really high like it's in neutral and the Overdrive light flashes repeatly. I'll let the car slow down then it goes back into first gear. Any suggestions or comments

Oh btw you might want to try a band-aide to hold it over tell you can get it repaired. Try that lucas non-slip trans crap. Its not the best stuff for it according to a local shop because it swells up the seals but it did help with slipage on my old 02 reg auto p5 with around 170k( I ended up just trading it in).

Also you might want to look into getting a new/used low mileage trans to get installed.


Edit: forgot to mention check your fluid levels obvious. A flush and a new filter might helpit but im pretty sure it wont fix your issue.

Do you think it could be one of the switches in the transmission or a wiring problem?

Change your fluid, when did you last had it replaced?

I just changed the fluid and strainer and it's still acting up. The od lights flashes also

Hook up a scantool and see if any codes are listed
