20" Wheels On a Hummer H2! WTF!

I went to go visit my local stereo and custom wheel shop to inquire about a possible upgrade of my P5's sound system.

Guess what they had in the shop? A 2003 Hummer H2 being fitted with a killer stereo AND these humongous 20" chrome rims with low profile Pirelli tires on it! Goddam ugly SOB! I couldn't believe my eyes. I mean, the H2 is a kick ass SUV for sure. It's made to go offroad to the max. In fact, it comes with rugged AT tires size 37" tall so that it can go over rocks, wade in deep water, plow through deep sand and so on. Then you've got these clueless profilers with too much money just plunk down $3k on a set of 20" rims and $300 a piece 50 series tires to make it look "cool" and handle like a freakin's sports sedan! Unbelievable! I guess I'm pissed because doing that to an H2 is like putting freakin' offroad tires on a P5 or marrying a Playboy playmate and making her wear men's clothes. Damn! What a freakin' waste!

The only thing is that is what happens with most SUVs. They are designed to go offroad as well(perhaps not as well as the Hummer of course) and they usually never see anything but nice paved roads their whole lives. A lot of people just buy a big ass SUV for the status of having a big bad vehicle on the road, not for actually going offroad. :)

A lot of people buy them because they think they are safer in an accident. But they are sadly mistaken. There are more fatalities in crashes in SUV's than cars. Probably because of the roll over they easily do. Some people are just stupid that way. They make stupid assumptions and don't even think about the physics of it.

well if i spent that much dough on a car i aint gonna take it off roading.,...no no...i will be PIMPIN with that s***!!!!!!!!!!!....u crayz....20" on that truck must hav looks small...no less then 22" baby...that would be my H2....of course if i had on and the money to spend on it....

I once saw a Ford Explorer filled with teens flip over going 3 mph! Freakin' walking speed! They were making a U-Turn when the thing climbed the curb and the driver must have floored the throttle and WHAM! Flipped it upside down in a second.

if i spent that much money on a suv(highly doubtful), id take it off roading ALL THE TIME, thats what carwashes are for. id have a blast, id be climbing mountains and s***. get your monies worth out of it.

Just look at the commerical on suvs now a days, they are not climbing mountains, over trenches (well some of them still do), they are for grocery shoppings and picking up kids.

YEAH AND WHO PICKS UP KIDS AND GOES TO THE grocery store?....ill give u ahint they CANT DRIVE EITHER......anyone know?????

What a wierd bunch of posts.
Our P5's weren't really meant to race, but we all do it.
OUr cars weren't meant for turbo, but we do it.
A hummer with 20's is s***, I agree. Put at least some 22's on there. A friend of mine with a lot of "disposable income" has 24's on his H2, it's ******* sexy.
The car is what you make it.

And on a side note, Ben is absolutely right. There was a special on Frontline (PBS's investigative reporting) that noted that SUV rollovers are the leading single form of death from accidents, they kill over 11,000 people every year. This does not count other deaths in SUV's or SUV/car accidents. And interestingly, SUV's not only endanger their passengers, but they are four times as likely to result in a fatality when involved in an accident with a car than when another car strikes a car. If our p5's, MP3's, etc were hit by a yukon, the rest of us on the site would all be offering prayers to the missing site member.

SUV's are more dangerous on public roads than cars. One person from the NHTSA commented that with the advances in car safety over the past 20 years (airbags, crumple zones, ABS, LSD, traction control, alloy improvements), that if SUV's had not come into the picture, our highway fatalities would have plummeted. i.e. if there were only cars on the road, we would all be remarkably safe, as a car on car accident is far less likely to result in a fatality, especially if both cars are new.

I'm done.

SUVs may be dangerous...but for some reason i still want an escalade wit 24s...lol

it may be bling bling...but it's a damn sweet vehicle
