2 codes 1 CEL and 1 ABS

I've had two seperate codes pop up and have had them read. The first one popped up with both the ABS light and parking brake light going on simultaneously. Thought it was my rear pads that were worn out but those checked out fine. Also checked the fluid level upon doing some research on the forum and that was fine as well. Finally had the code read and it came up as:

C1175
tried doing a search for this one and came up empty handed....anyone know what this one is?

second one was the CEL which came on approx. 3 months after the initial ABS light came on.....this one is:

P0031-H02S11

now, did a search on this one and came up with it possibly being the 02 sensor however can someone narrow down which one of the two it may be?

also, is there somewhere online which has a list of these codes we can just look up easily.....some sort of factory code listing site.....

P0031 is your Bank 1 Sensor 1 meaning it's your first O2 sensor before the cat, usually on your exhaust manifold for a MSP. Do a search on here by typing in only the code, and you'll get a ton of information.

C1175

If the vehicle has only DTC C1175 in the ABS module it is most likely caused by a wiring concern or a faulty sensor.

Inspect the vehicle wiring for damage beginning at the rear wheel speed sensor connector and ending at the ABS module. Damage may be at any point in the wiring.

Inspect for pinched looms, frayed terminal connections, loose pins, etc.

Pay special attention to the wiring along the frame (especially if the vehicle has been modified from a body builder), and near the fuel tank.

The speed sensor wiring begins at the rear axle and is routed along the frame rail on the left side of the vehicle. It then branches off at C140 (gas C133), which is located beneath the master cylinder. The wiring then goes to C455 at the ABS module.

The wiring should not be loose, especially near the rear wheel speed sensor. Ensure that the wiring is properly retained and routed to eliminate intermittent speed signals.

NOTE: USE A ZIP TIE TO SECURE THE HARNESS TO THE SENSOR SO THE PORTION OF THE HARNESS THAT IS COMING OFF OF THE BRAKE CABLE IS SUPPORTED.

Repair wiring as necessary.

If no concerns are found in the wiring, replace the sensor.

For ABS + Parking Brake light, it should be a speed sensor on your rear brakes. You need to check it reading the ABS module.

thanks for the info guys. appreciate it. local parts store can only get me the O2 sensor and didn't have a listing for the ABS sensor.....I guess i'll have to try the dealer and see how much they want for both. An aftermarket NGK O2 sensor was about $230 in Canadian funds....wonder what the ABS is going to run...

I think I have the same problem. Where can I get this checked at? does it cost to pull the codes? and how much to fix? Been like that for about a year now. The brakes work fine and all, but it's anoying to see the lights on the dash every day.

any mechanic should be able to pull the codes. i paid $40 to have the codes read...some places wanted a full hours worth of labour which is b.s. takes a total of 10 seconds to pull the codes. i think it'll be worth buying a diagnostic reader for future...just have to figure out which one. i know my abs is no longer functioning but really didn't matter.....rest of car is running like it should even with the cel. the lights were annoying me as well which is why i got them read.

went to the dealer today.....surprisingly they were actually cheaper for the 02 sensor than aftermarket.....$202. The ABS sensor was $232. Hope this helps someone else.

Well looks like I'm going to have to wait on that. Have no moola in the bank right now.

just a little update....took the car out last weekend and spent approx. 4-5 hours of highway driving....surprisingly both the abs light and the parking brake light went out. wondering if the sensor was just dirty and needed to be cleaned as something became dislodged from all the driving......

i still haven't had a chance to pull it apart to check...but just thought i'd update before anyone having the same problem decides to directly go and purchase a new one....try cleaning.....

You can get a cheaper reader for around $40. It'll give you the code and allow you to erase them. I would just save around $100 and get a decent one. Be sure the battery is good, weak batteries cause ABS issues all the time.
