2.0 conversion to 1.8 Coil Packs

so i got these installed again and when im just putting around town its fine, but when i get on it and im at full throttle im getting a miss and it sounds like a dam machine gun.

Anyone ever have this problem? I have a CEL but havent had the time to get it checked yet.

did you install new plugs as well? if so what did you gap them to?

If you put them in the stock location they'll overheat from the turbo manifold and cause misfires. Happened to me for the longest time until I went back to coil on plug. Relocate them, even though this defeats the purpose cause it looks liek s*** anywhere but the stock location...

ill get the new plugs and gap them and hope that is the problem. If not im going to be really pissed that i wasted my money on getting that dam 626 mani powder coated

yeah stock MSP is like .028 -.032, try that. if the gap is too big you can blow out the spark under boost.. also recheck all your wiring for loose or dirty connections. i believe going a step colder would make the situation worse, just pull your plugs and re-gap them

Do they overheat even on a regular protege?

I do believe the people who have that problem have upgraded the exhaust mani either to a 4-1 or 4-2-1 or turbo setup. I have not seen it happen to a stock exhaust yet but please correct me if i am wrong.

so the plugs where the problem.... they where stock heat range and gaped at .045-.048, glad to see my mechanic took the time to gap them right.

i put in a heat range colder and gaped at .0028 and the car ran good.

ya i dont normally either, but he put them in when he built my motor.

There was no way i could have tackled that job with no garage and it being winter when it was being built, plus i need it done ASAP since my MSP is my DD.

I was wondering if there was a reason they where gaped that way.
