1999 Corvette vs 2000 S2000

And as for performance, all you have to do is slap a Vortech S/C on there & it's fast as s***. Have you ever seen pro drivers auto-x an S2K (even a stock one)?

Funny i didn't see a stock S2K in those pics ?
Well if you get a Vette, that's all it's gonna look like: STOCK. When was the last time you saw a Vette that looked different?

No brainer for me - CORVETTE. Period. I am biased though - my Dad had a '98 (obviously still a C5) and it was BRILLIANT.

How are the cars comparible?
I am not knocking the S2K.
He asked what i would get and why. I answed, there is no need to defend the S2K from me. It is simply an opion.

Also i did cover the idea of a S/C on a S2k and to that effect keep in mind even comptechs S2K could not take down a totaly stock Z06 in a road corse. True the C5 is no Z06 but alas it is a powerful and well handling car right from the factory. As a person with an aftermarket turboed car I can say from experience as perfomance on a car goes up the reliability goes down. Honda reliability won't compare to Chevy's once a SC is bolted on.

Exactly, stock the C5 looks amazing the S2K stock looks homoerotic and needs a body kit to hid it, its still there though.

So stock the C5 looks better and performs better so why get a S2K agian.

Once you have a V8 anything less is only half an engine :D

Plus once you own and drive a vette, then you get rid of it. You will always want other one. I had a 92 vette for about a year, there is nothing out there for that price that compares with a vette.

ROARS? This Roars!!!!!!!

This Cobra would chew up a Vette so fast, the Vette driver's head would spin.

the price? About $53,000 built.

Hey Darin are those 97 C5's that you are looking up. If you found 6 pages of C5's in that price range I bet that they are 97 - 98 vettes.

97-98-99 = same car in my book :D

Thanks...

Well that would be great if a.) you had multiple toys, or b.) you had more money than you know what to do with, which is basically saying the same thing. As a primary vehicle (considering the price), I think I could live with that Cobra for about.....a week.

Apples to Oranges. Imo, nothing touches a Vette for the price and as a daily driver.

If....I were going to spend about $50,000 (for a daily driver) for a new 'American' car, I would consider the Vette Roadster, and I don't like the other Chevy products, or GM products for that matter. The Vette, I do like, however.

I'm with you Greg - my Dad's '98 Vette didn't feel anything like ANY GM product. Now if I could trailer that Cobra with, say, a big dualie (the only other GM product I'd probably buy - a big truck!), and drive the Vette in the week, I'd be all set! :D Again, I'd need more money than I knew what to do with...ahh well, back to work... :(

He's not getting a Z06, so why even bring that up? With the $5k he would save getting the S2K, he could get the S/C & then the C5 would have no advantage. Oh, & GM reliability...
(rofl) (rofl) (rofl) (rofl)

Not to mention all of the plastic interior parts in the Vette are from the same parts bin that Chevy uses for all of their cars. When you pay for a Vette, you shouldn't get controls that look like they belong in a Prizm rental car.

The Sc would not be covered by $5K. YOu have to do alot more the just add a SC to get the car to handle that power.

I'll take a vette C5 reliability over a SC S2K whcih blows rods stock any day!

re: Other stuff;

Who cares which Cobra is faster than whatever - that's not the topic of discussion.

See, some of you just can't fathom that a slower car can be 'more fun' to drive.

I own a 12-second-power Probe GT.
I drive a 16 second Miata 99.6% of the time.

The Miata is simply more fun. It's hard to explain, unless you drive them.

The plastics, reliability, rattles, etc. is true for C4 and earlier (pre '97) Vettes, but again, from personal experience, the C5 is an all around great car. Not to say the S2000 isn't by any stretch...hell with it, personal opinion is what it is. I'm done giving mine. :D
