1991 protege problems

So i bought this car cheap, and here is a list of problems. if you now how to fix anything much appreciation reps heh

speedometer doesn't work
odometer stopped
every time i start the car (especially in the cold) it has a horrible squeal
ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH idle and stalls unless i give it gas
my brake light is on even though i changed all four pads.

those are the big ones, and i dont have alot of money to spend so i want to do as much of the work as possible myself or with friends. Any ideas, thanks alot

-speedo cable must be broken
-odometer won't work too if the speedo cable is broken
-squeal may be coming from the engine belts which require tightening
-idle speed to low or you simply just need a tune-up
-the brake indicator also lights up when the brake fluid level is low

hmm, thanks for the tips, my rpms are at MAYBE 500 if im lucky, and if i dont hold the brake down and give it gas the car starts to putter out and die. any ideas?
