1991 mazda miata, silver, dark blue interior...but i covered it!
Ok! so...i just joined this forum, i'm almost 16, AND i want to fix up my car before i start driving it! it doesn't have many problems, but i have a few problems getting anything done to it! my grandpa doesn't want me to "blow" my money getting things done to the outside, but he's interested in the roll bar! so i need to know how much a roll bar costs to get installed. I also could use some tips on touching up the paint, the hub caps...(or whatever their called) have the paint worn off and i don't know if i should fix them or just get new wheels for it...so any help anyone could give me would be....well...helpful! thanx

Welcome to the board!

Roll bars vary in price, depending on your applicaton (strength, rigidity, show, etc). Here's a link to the two most popular: http://www.teammiata.com/Miata_Roll_Bars.htm . They're quite easy to install yourself.

My advice is to forget modifying the exterior. Miata's are notable for their handling and cornering charicteristics. I recommend spending your money to make that even better. Make the car faster before making it "prettier". The only exterior modification I'd ever consider doing to my Miata are the factory accessories (front chin lip and rear lip spoiler) as well as perhaps low-profile headlights.

Check out www.miata.net also. There is a TON of information there within the "Garage" and forums. Be sure to do a search before asking any questions on their forum first ;).

Lets see some pics of your Miata, too! :D

ok awesome! thanks so much...(but i still want to touch up the little scratches...) i would love a spoiler...but that won't happen for a while....i might look into a roll-bar and a new stereo system! i'll look into gettin some pics on here! :)

Lindsey,

Check out www.miata.net and www.miataforum.com as two excellent resources. As to roll bars, Hard Dog roll bars are simply the best...and are sold by a few Miata retailers, such as www.flyinmiata.com .

Depending on where you are and if there's one nearby, join your local Miata club. A complete listing of them can be found in the CLUBS section on www.miata.net - they're everywhere!

Enjoy your Miata ownership experience.

alrighty! thanx a bunch! i checked that flyin' miata page....sadly...they are a little too expensive! :( but i'm gonna keep looking :) thanks for your help!

Get a 4 point rollbar and forget stylebars. You can install one in 8-12 hours taking your time and done over a few days. Most people seem to take 6-8 hours and do it in one shot. Join the local club and get it done during a tech day.

Welcome to the forum.

ok, this miiiiiiiight make me look stupid...but....when it comes to cars i am!!! Tech day?? what would that be...? we are going to paint the hub caps because the paint is coming off of them...i think we have most of the outer stuff under control now! yippie... i just want to see about the roll bar and radio because the radio totally SUUUUCKS! anywho, thanks! :D

With you being a girl, I'm sure you'd have no problem having somone install the bar for you while a member of a local Miata club. It sounds strange, but that's the way things are, hehe (shoot, look at all of the leg humpers on this board).

I have to say this, I say it to anyone with a Miata, heh You should check out your local SCCA sanction and try an autocross. You'd be surprised at how much fun it can be. Not only that, but the lessons learned in car control and 'hazard avoidance' are very beneficial. Basically, it's a very controlled environment in which you can race your car against the clock (fully legal, BTW) and depending on your location, averages out to about $25 per event.
