Alright one of my friends blew her motor in her 1988 mx-6. I personally know nissans top to bottom but in all honestly have never even looked at the motor of any mazdas other than rx-7's and speeds. As why I came here! (drinks)
So anyway she is going to pick up a f2t motor of the same year cause its only like $200 more than the n/a one. My question is when im swapping this in, is it going to be a straight drop in, plug in, and play or is there some parts i need for the swap?

My main thing is will there have to be a new harness or engine/tranny mounts involved to put an f2t into a n/a mx6 chassis of the same year? thanks guys!

Are you going to use the turbo stuff also? or just using the turbo engine in the n/a application?

Id be worried about the extremely low compression in the F2T motor. There compression is like 7-8-1. N/A that is going to be pretty gutless.

If your just swapping the engine, Then just do the short block itself. The motors are different between the 88-89 years, and the 90-92 years. There electrical and vacuum systems are specific to those years.

find out what year her mx6 is, and find out what year and model the engine is coming from, and tell me if you plan to go n/a or turbo or not, and ill tell you what you need to do.

ive done a 89 to 90 swap in a probe. the injectors are different so the injector plugs dont work. easiest way is to have the engine harness and ecu and also the boost pressure sensor that sits on the firewall. thermostat housings are slightly different to. as long as you have the harness and few other things na to turbo isnt hard
