2006 Mazda5 - GT
Hi,
I finally located a decent 1988 Mazda 323 GT after many years of looking.
This is the 323 equipped with the B6T engine and it's the sedan version (not the hatch) so there's no 4WD as in the GTX.
The car has 220KM and is still with the original owner. The body is in great shape, some minor rust around the rear wheels but nothing I can't fix myself.
The guy recently did a complete head/valve job at the Mazda dealership and has all the receipts dating back to 1988.
His wife uses the car as a daily driver and she says she has never taken it over 4000rpm. The car is 100% original, no mods no accidents nothing. I feel as though I've won the lottery.
I'm taking possession in March and need to get some advice from anyone out there who has one of these cars.
Where can I source aftermarket springs for this car.....I see H&R have a set but are there any other options?
Also, is there a CAI option I can explore?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Anthony

Definetly post up some pics. Sounds like you found a 1 in a million. Www.corksport.com has quite a bit of parts for your model. Brakes, clutchs, suspension, jdm body parts, ect.

I take possession of the car early March and will post some pics at that time......It's 100% stock with some rust on the rear fenders.....

That's awesome. A friend back in D.C. picked up one of those in faded-to-hell black. It was a total sleeper.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having the turbo in the first place? Good find my friend...but I would have held out for an AWD one.

Finding a good driveable GTX (i.e., the 4WD Turbo) that hasn't been rally'ed to death is almost impossible. Guys on the mazda323performance forum estimate that there're less than 700 of them available today, most of them probably already parted out.

I have seen one or two come through this forum that were in managable condition over the past two years or so. I suppose you would end up paying a premium for one in good condition if the person knows what they've got but they aren't impossible to find if you are patient.

I used to have a 1988 323 GT Turbo 1.6 liter in Vogue Silver (Blueish Silver Sedan). I sold it (gave it away) with 155,000 miles in 1999 and I was the original owner. I went thru 42 tires and the 4 on her were worn, 46 total! I Went thru three clutches and 3rd gear synchros twice. The car never had wheel hop like my MSP and it had Blue Tinted Side Mirrors for less distraction from behind. I towed a jet ski trailer with a 650SX for 2 years too. BEST CAR EVER (drinks)

PS: I never knew what the HP was. It never had any engine mods except Bosch Platinum Plugs.

46/4=23/11= 2 set of tires a year. Unless you were racing on those tires that is horrible.

I bought it new in Jan 89 and gave it away in Feb 99 when I bought my Silver ES. Thats only 4.6 tires per year :). I was not nice to the tires and the car was NEVER on a track. Most of the tires were Michelin XGTV-4's. They were great.(ughdance)

i have always wanted one of these. spicymchaggis is supposed to find me one, but he always fails.
