taking that Iraqi contracting gig or what?

Yup, like alien said I'm in Arizona training right now. Going to leave for Camp Lejuene on Jan 7th, then Iraq on Jan 19th. Should have a good amount of money to spend on the dime when I get back. Hopefully she will be running at that time.

Had no Idea you were military.
I am Air Force Reserve ATM.

Not in the military anymore. Was in the Marine Corps from 1997-2001. Going over as a contractor working with/supporting the Marine Corps over there.

Man, with all that money you will make, you should be able to have the nicest 510 in Missouri..... ^_^

lol. We will see, still got to pay bills and my wife quit work so she could concentrate on school, and I have my own student loans to pay. So HOPEFULLY I should have around $6000 to spend when I get back. Looking at

Radiator/fans
rear coilovers
new rear control arms (mine are screwed up)
Some carbon fiber parts
New tires
I'm contemplating getting front coil overs/brakes from Datsport and rear brakes from Datsport, but I'm not sure yet.

just make the coilovers yourself with the ground control kit and some 280ZX struts and brakes, paint them pretty and whatever else.
Save yourself the cash on the datsport stuff. the only thing I have seen them make that I like is the steering box brace. There was one one ebay last week.

As for the rear brakes, get the rear disc bracket from DAMB engineering, and mount up some Maxima rear discs. I think the e-brake linkage still works with those as well with a minor modification.
Rear coilovers? I dont know too much about them, except that they are EXPENSIVE.

WELL I THINK HE IS GOING COILOVER REAR CAUSE THATS ALL THAT WILL WORK WITH HIS SET UP. plUS HE HAS COIL OVER INT HE FRONT, WITH 280 BRAKES. (SENT THEM TO HIM)

Woops forgot caps!

I already have 280zx front struts/brakes. They are on the front page. I'm going to get some rear coil overs from Troy Ermish. I've got the DQ issue with the instructions on who to make the rear brackets for the 280 brakes. And my friend has the tools, equipment, know how to help me with it.

They are at the bottom of the list because if I have the cash after I get her running, they will be my 'BLING' parts. lol.

Wow just found this thread - I love the 510. Looks like a great project.

We had one in the late '70's when nobody had japanese cars, and that's what I learned to drive on. Compared to american cars of the day, they were way nimble.

Great to see.

Thanks. I love mine. Never had a chance to drive this one, but I loved driving my older one. Hopefully when I get back I'll have LOTS of updates for the thread.

I think when you get back to the states, you should take a vacation and come drive mine.

lol. Don't tease me like that. Or I could get mine running, and test it out by driving it ti cali.

I just thought of something.

They have a monthly AutoX at the Charles Schulz Airport 15 minutes from my house.
You should drive out, see the redwoods, and race me at the Auto Cross!

oh, and check my 510 thread, I think I found a steal on some camber plates, finally!

Would love to, but I'm in Iraq for the next year. That's why there are no updates on my car. :(, plus I live in MO.

You will deserve a vacation when you get back. Besides, wouldn't your wife like to see the wine country? It would be a great break in for your new KA. I could think of a thousand reasons why but I am typing this on my phone.

How about I drive your 510 back for you and I fly back to CA?

hehe.

A question! :

I just got my s13/14 camber plates and dont have any idea how they are supposed to attach to the top of the 280ZX shock. Any tips?
(I dont have the coilover kit from ground control yet so getting that may make this easier to figure out.)
Do you have any pictures of your front struts assembled?
