I figured I needed more forums to go on so I came over here since I do still have a Mazda. Truck looks great...gas and back tires have got to be killing you.

Its not his DD so gas really shouldnt be that big of a deal I think but tires on the other hand I dont know about. lol

Unless the Dakota is seeing a lot more action (do you even still have that??)or he gets to bring a 'company car' home, it's definitely not a garage queen and gets frequent use. I know Christy works closer, but that's still a lot of gas. I know when it was over $4/gal my truck was stupid expensive to drive.
Extra vehicles are nice to have around when 'Zoom Zoom Boom' hits or the Baby Dragon singes you a little. :)

The Chevy does great on 91 octane it gets 14 mpg. With the motor down in the P5 I have to drive the Chevy. Christy drives the Dakota all the time. Nice thing about work with my new assignment I'm only 11 miles from work instead of the 45 miles I had been traveling each way for the last 6 years.

Sweet job on the pinstriping! I like the barb wire idea. Looks sick! Any new updates with the truck? Also how is the build on the P5 doin?

I'm selling my Ninja for the price of a new radiator for the Chevy.

My P5 "should" be done soon.

The guy that did the pinstripes named her for me. I didn't have a name at the time.

When I paint the truck laser blue and silver it'll be renamed bad bowtie.

I have too much other stuff to do first. Its winning trophys as is. I have won 4 car shows this year. People seem to like the rat rod.

I'd like to finish the truck by its 60th birthday. That would be summer of 2010.

Right now I need a bunch of body work to the back of the cab. It was a Cal-Trans highway maintence truck originally in 1950. So it has damage from road signs and construction equipment. The fenders will cost more to repair than to replace. The rear fenders are $450 each and the front fenders are over $500 each. The headboard of the bed is damaged and filled with Bondo but that is only $200 to replace. The tail gate is also packed with bondo and its only $189.99 plus freight shipping. So I have over $2,500.00 in just sheet metal to replace before I can even think about paint. My radiator is designed 58 years ago for an inline 6 with 4lbs or less of cooling pressure. My big ole V8 produces 16 lbs of pressure. So my radiator is exploding as I drive. I've already repaired the top tank twice. A new radiator from Summit Racing is $856.00 plus shipping.

If I spent $4,000.00 on the paint job on my P5 with no body work then the truck is going to be around $8,000. That doesn't even take into consideration for all the chrome nuts & bolts and all the proper screws needed to complete the restoration. I'm looking at putting another $15,000 ontop of the $15,000. I've already put into the truck.

Yikes! That is some spendy stuff. Were you able to sell the bike?

Nobody's got any money. I should have put it up for sale when gas was $4 a gallon. The 55 mpg would have tempted more people.

Bikes are not a hot item as it was snowing and raining here yesterday.

How the heck is it snowing there already and we up in North Idaho have not got any yet. Of coarse it is snowing in the mountains but have not got any in town yet. That's weird.

A little paint insperation for ya from SEMA. I think this would be a nice clean paint scheem for ya except the dark grey on the bottom could be the blue color you wanted:
