19'' rims on Pro5 from Anthony03

I know there is a separate thread for showing rims but this post has a double cause.

First I wanted to show you the rims I purchased from Anthony03. And how they fit the Protege5.

Secondly I wanted to publically critique Anthony's salesmanship.
Anthony was very forthcoming with information. His patience was genuine. Anthony also returned every message promply (within 2 hours) and made me relax about sending $900 to someone I had never meet who lived in TX where I live in Toronto Canada. I provided Anthony with instructions on how to ship the rims to avoid me having to pay taxes and duties (when shipping over the boarder) and he followed them precisely and confidently. The wheels were shipped promptly and when promised - no hesitation, no worries. As I only paid $900 for these 19's, Anthony's pricing is also very fair (though it was a bit of a Dutch Auction) he also threw in brand new set of Spline drive lug nuts without telling me (mind you the lugs didn't fit the centre caps cause of their height - but it was a nice gesture). Most of all I trusted Anthony and he didn't ever deceive me. If you have any doubts about this man - lay them to rest - he's a trustworthy. I, however, had a bit of trouble with his thick Texan accent at times and had to ask him to repeat himself! LOL

Some cons of the sale:
1. Rims could've been packaged better. They should've been placed in plastic so they wouldn't get dirty from the newspaper filling in the boxes. You have to remember that the carrier is going to be rough with the package no matter if it's marked "fragile" or not.
2. Not all the rims came as clean as the ones he took pictures of.
3. One rim has a flat spot on the inside and this was not mentioned to me - However, I believe it was because Anthony did not see it as the rim was dirty. He mentioned all other damages, I don't see why he would purposely not mention the flat spot - he just over looked it.

Anyway here are the pictures of the rims on my Pro5 - I'm dropped nearly 3'' all around and I do get a bit of rubbing (front and rear) cause the wheels are tucking into the fenders and with 215 that's no good. I will be raising the car a bit to just fill the wheel gap. For safe measure my body shop will be rolling my fenders when I get my kit painted (Kit is on the way).
These are not the best pictures (car dirty, ground a mess and nighttime) but you get the picture - I'll repost once everything on the exterior is complete.

A little off-topic, but could you let some of us other Canadians know what you did to avoid taxes and duties. I've always been hesitant on purchasing on-line from the U.S. (and have passed up some great deals) because of the chance that I might get nailed with duty.

BTW - great purchase!

didnt see the 'flat' part u mentioned, but sounds like u did get a good deal.

did u have fun grinding the inside of the rear well w/ a dremmel to keep the tires from rubbing?

i didnt...

Those wheels were initially on one of our cars. In that wheel it's a one off. THye were custom machined to fit Sean's car. It is about a +47 offset runnign a Pirelli P7000SS in 215/35/19.

We have some wheels in that fitment should you be interested. I'm debating doing the same once I get the mintblue kit on.

Oh Btw, Anthony you totally allowed yourself to get *****. LOL!!! Those rims are quite expensive. That's an amazing deal. Had I known he was selling them so cheap I would have bought them back. Darnit.

Thanks for the props and thanks to Anthony for bending over to get ***** on the price! LOL

Just to answer a few questions:

Shipping to Canada and avoiding taxes:
You must prepare 3 copies of a commercial invoice. Something along the lines of what a Quickbooks invoice looks like - assign a fake invoice number, enter shipper info, buyer info, product desciption, price (can be fake), and an invoice total price. Moreover, the most important part is to add the following details in the product description:
1. Warranty Repair (not replacement as a replacement will be taxable)
2. Used Items
3. Items not for resale
When Canada customs recieves this info and the boxes are also marked with the above 3 conditions you will avoid paying taxes and duties on the items being shipped. I used UPS, had the wheels shipped from Waco TX to Toronto Ontario for a total price of $230 CAD (~$170 USD).

Wheel Details
The wheels have a 47.5mm offset and are wrapped in 215/35 rubber. I do have rubbing when dropped 3'' on ground control coilovers but with an Eibach Pro-Kit (which I used to have) I probably would've been fine. As for my plans right now to solve the rubbing issue; my body shop will be shaving/rolling my fenders (only required in the rear) to add ~3mm of clearance to be safe). I'd do it myself but I'll also be in the body shop to have my new kit painted and fitted as well as a Carbon Fiber hood. I also plan on shaving the emblems off the hatch and have the resulting holes filled and blended.

These wheels were cheap but now that I have them I'm going nuts trying to make the rest of my exterior look as bling as these rims! AHhh!!! Mo' money!

if anyone was talking about the rims i've got, i have pirelli p7000ss size 215/35/zr19's no camber kits or anything. although i do have spring compressors on the front. don't worry i plan to take them off. i'm hoping to put pics of my car as soon as i can.
