~180 HP in 2 Weeks?

Doh! When ya get em in make sure you ask the mechanic what all has to be done to get them in. One guy said you had to do some work on the spacers.

i'm no genius, but how can that be?!?! if you have a manual transmission, your engine is directly linked to the drive wheels and your engine speed is directly linked to your road speed. be making the intake less restrictive, you will only change the amount you have the throttle opened, NOT the engine speed (rpm). if you were at 4000 rpm @ 80 mph before the intake, you will be at 4000 rpm @ 80 mph after the intake. the only way you can change your rpms at a specific speed is to change your gears.

Well I am just telling you how it is. When I had my work done to my rx7 turbo II it did the same thing but not as much of a difference. It was only like 2500rpms.

i am going to assume you mean 250 rpm, not 2500 rpm. with it that close, i doubt you were going the same speed.

Ah well you can believe what you want. I know. Well as for the cams. I am getting those installed today so I will let you all know what kind of a difference they make.

Well I got them installed today and it only took 3:30 hours and they didnt have to do anything with the spacers. Well I was advised by srmotorsports to break it in 500 miles so I am on a mission to do that. As for a difference I can feel alittle more down low.

UPDATE:

OK, the time is near! I dropped my car off today to get everything done. They are putting the header on (modifying it to fit), doing custom exhaust from the header back, putting in a high flow cat, Tenzo R muffler, putting the cams in (intake and exhaust), putting the flywheel in, and putting the clutch in.

All that cost me $1000. The high flow cat was $100 and the muffler was $150. They should be done Fri afternoon, but I might not can get down there till Sat.

Will post pics and info and all that s***.

Well the cams are a nice addition. Oh and I almost forgot. I am going to post the pictures of my speedometer with my rpms at 3500 and my speed at 80mph for you people that dont believe me.

Grrr, I called them today and they said they haven't even started on it :( He said he should have it done by tomorrow afternoon though, so cross your fingers.

Here is my question, I thought the cams had more duration. This would move the power band lower, it moves it up...

So, how can the FS-ZE intake cam give you more grunt down low?? Same with the Mazdaspeed exhaust cam??

cams are the best money upgrade, they made my car pull up to 7000 alot faster, the cam install is easy. i do it 4 aliving. the rpms do not change bacaue of cams, that has to do with gear ratios (changing them). i know i am a master teh at mazda

I hope you are right about the cams. Another member just had his car dyno'd and it only showed about a 6hp gain from the cams.

OK, I registered just cuz I've got to ask how things turned out NC. Was it worth it?
How'd the header fit? What's the dyno say?
Come on man, I'm die'n here.

I will have the car back Weds. I called today and they assured me it would be done then. I will post full reviews on every part and any modifications that had to be done. Planning on getting the car dyno'd asap.

Well I guess it is time to let this thread die. I now have all the parts except the clutch. The car definately has more power, most of it down low. It still lacks top end HP. I am very happy though. The car is much more fun to drive and it is LOUD! It is too loud really, I am gonna get a silencer put in. I think I have about 140 whp, but I will get the car dyno'd asap.

It's not 180 HP and it took more like 2 months, not 2 weeks, but it is done. I will post pics of the exhaust and header soon.
