Anyone here have 17x7.5" rims and a lowered protege?

If so, then here's a little questionairre for ya...

-What offset are your rims?

-What size are your tires? Which tires do you run?

-Do you get any rubbing? If so, where? How did you fix it?

-What did you lower your car with? Did it improve the handling, make it worse, or keep it about the same?

-How is the ride quality compared to stock?

Hey Kooldino,

I have a 02 P5 and I have a set of SSR GT-1S that are 17x7.5 with an offset of +48. I have had a set of Goodyear F1s and Bridgestone S03 Pole-Positions both in a 215/40-17. I had no rubbing issues at all with stock springs. I then lowered the car with Eibach Pro-Kit springs and had a slight rub on the rear passenger side. I fixed that with a set of camber bolts and setting the rears at 1.75 degrees. I dont think you really need that much but thats what I wanted for the track. I also have a 21.5mm AWR rear sway bar and the 5-way Illuminas, so the car is much stiffer than stock. Should I say stiffer when, the struts are set and anything higher than a 2. The car handles so much better than stock, its not even close.

I LOVE those rims. I wanted to buy a set myself, but they were too rich for my blood. Same exact size and offset as my Battles though...

On the outside, I assume? No rubbing on the struts?

What was the stock camber on your car? Also, where did you get said camber bolts? Did the negative camber change wear/handling at all?

Awesome, thank you.

Yes, the rubbing was on the outside only (rear passenger side), no rubbing problem with the strut side all the way around. My stock camber numbers for the rear were in the -.4 to -.6 degree range, can't remember which side was which. I would have to think that tire wear will suffer, but I haven't notice but that is because I have, 1 set of winter tires, 1 set of track tires and have gone though 3 set of street tires so far and that is only in 42K+ miles. First set of street tires I ruined when I lowered the car and the toe in was way off. Second set of street tires were used for a track event and I wore the outside edge off both fronts, thus now I have R-compound track tires and a new set of street tires. If you can tell, the rings business was really good. LOL Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgot, I got the camber bolts from Tire Rack http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/...autoModClar=&autoYear=2002&brand=all&x=71&y=8

Also, the handling of the car after adding more negitive in the rear, helped the car carve the turns better. The car seems to take the set better, so I can get on the gas sooner. Thus a faster way around the turn.

Hey dino!!

well I have the EXACT SAME WHEELS AS YOU!...gotta love those Battles..

and you KNOW the offset is +48

I am running Yoko AVS ES100'S in 215/40/17

yes the 5 is lowered...with a set of Eibach Pro Kit Springs. ABSOLUTELY NO RUBBING anywhere...anytime...not even with a full load of people in the car.

I believe the handling is better....although we don't have all that many curvey roads around here....the ride is fine...at least for me...is it stiffer than stock? sure it is....you sacrifice ride for handling, no matter what car it is.

Awesome. I'm hoping to get away with 215/45/17...wanna have a little more meat on the tire.

Do the Eibachs ever get to the point where they're uncomfortable?

wow...well I don't know....on my rear...there is so little room from the inner edge of the fender to the side of the tire....maybe alike 3/16's of an inch...its close. It would really depend on the specific tire as to whether or not it will rub.

as for being uncomfortable? nope...not for me anyway.
