I'm looking into getting a set for auto-x. What size tire would you guys reccomend for something like this. I dont want to roll fenders or grind the struts. I have no poblem having a overall diameter being smaller then the stock MP3 rims. So what is the conlcusion with running spacers? From what I read there are mixed ideas about this? The best scenerio would be to get the best performance with no alteration of the car (possibly other then spacers).

Would this cause the tire to be "stretched" or would it be flush with the rim? Also, 3mm spacers front and back?

3mm front AND back - 215's fit fine on 8 inch rims.

I run a 5mm spacer up front and a 3mm in the rear with a 215/50 tire. Only have rubbing issues when I bottom out on larger bumps. Nothing a minor fender roll wont fix.

What if I got 225-45-16. Seems like they should fit? Is the little extra tire width worth the effort?

Do you have the tires already, if so what kind, and do you plan to auto-x or just dd? I am thinking that the 45's have a smaller side wall then the 50's and that should allow a bit more travel and thus should not rub on the fender.

i was going to go with the 225/45's but decided to play it safe and get 215's

try a 215 wheel width. i rub with my stock wheels on a 225 setup

Are your fenders rolled? also what suspension are you running?

I got myself a new set of auto-x rims for this new season that is coming (WedsSport SA-90 : 16"x7" +48 offset) and I'm also looking into 225/45r16 rubbers! I changed the OEM HP for Illuminas and my rear fenders are already rolled for my street wheels (Enkei Evo5 : 17"x7" +42 offset).

I'm wondering if I'll need spacers to have enough clearance on the struts?
