15's anyone??

There are at least 3 more of us running 15" rims. I run them for autox, ARunto (MSP) has them and so did ChopstickHero (MSP), as his snows. My bf is picking some up this weekend to use as snows on his MSP this winter. There's been a few threads discussing the topic.

why use 15's? the smallest i'd go is 16. just cause w/ 15's you have to run tires w/ a larger aspect and w/ larger aspects come less stiff sidewalls hence more folding on hard corners..like really hard corners. Yes it's smoother, and it rides more comfortably due to the higher sides, but I think you sacrifice some cornering performance doing it.

Not if you run Azenis, Kuhmo MX's or the other performance based tires. The handling is amazing and only downside is less tread life.

heh heh... How bout 15" winter tires (195/65/15 I think).

I gave the wheel covers to my sister (she inherited my mom's camry that was missing a cover and the rest were curbed pretty badly from numerous trips to the Dunkin Donuts drivethrough). Once I'm done with the tires I'm going to get rid of the wheels and put snows on my stock wheels.

Hmm... It's the 'in thing' to get bigger wheels for style, rather than smaller. Heh. I know the reason I chose 15's is to get a lower unsprung weight and lower rotational mass. I have 15" 929 rims with 205/50R15's right now, which will soon be swapped out for SSR Competition 15x6.5"... 8.6 pounds, rather than the 11 pounds of the 929 rims. =)

Here's a pic of the 929 rims, but with winter tires on, ready for the snow:

I run 15" 626 rims daily on mine. I painted them gunmetal and they look pretty good. I'll get pictures up later.

Did you do the "JDM duck tape mod" to the top of your grill? Looks silver.

My wheels looks so wimpy compared to yours...

they are ATS wheels from discount tire. I forget the model name. comp lite or something like that.

And regarding the grill, i painted it silver. no duct tape there. :)

i run 15x6.5 MX-6 rims as my autoX setup, wrapped in 205/50/15 Azenis. to me, the main benefits are the lower rotational inertia that comes w/ smaller wheels, and the fact that the 15s are almost an inch shorter than my OE 16s, somewhat compensating for the car's meager power on course. i would love to move to 7" or even 7.5" wide wheels sometime.

I just picked up another set of 15"x7" rims for autox, I haven't test fitted them on the car w/ rubber on them yet. I'm going to do that this weekend and then I'll post up pics.
