Currently my car is at 18k miles, called the dealership for quotes on service.. and gettting ridiculous quotes of 200+ for what basiclly seems like an oil change.
@15k mi they change/replace
Oil
Air filter
Cabin Air Filter
and Battery Pads
and rotate tires... then everything else is Inspect this and that.. which they do a Full Circle Service inspection of like 21 things any way. I have my tires rotated at Discount tire for free.
@20k mi.. they perform
Oil
and drain and flush brake fluid.

Just can't seem to justify paying the cost.. and why is there interval services every 5kmi.. i can understand 15k, 30, 50...ect.. and an oil change every 3kmi...
any insight is appreciated..

i never do these dealer packages. i just look at the manual and do whatever is recommended there. so, you should do oil change every 7500 mi or 5000 mi if you fall under severe category. if the manual actually calls for cabin air filter change, then i do it at the recommended time.

remember, the dealers invent all these packages to increase their profit, and i have never seen one that actually follows the manual.

I change my oil @ or before 3k. The dealers are out for profit and loosely base packages off of manuf. reccomendations. I suggest the following
oil@3-7.5k
rotation: everyother lof or 6k
Air filter: when you can no longer see light through the fins
Cabin air filter: ditto.

Drain and replace brake fluid at 18k? That item alone shows their goal.

Check out your owner's manual for the reccomended service. If they are suggesting more than that, they are out to rip you off.

Just keep in mind dealer sales of new cars are down......how do they make up the money??? Charge more for service and try to get more people to come in on a "scheduled" basis.....there is NOTHING that the dealer wants to do that you can't do yourself.....very simple. The Mazda manual is actually very good as to the frequency and at what mileage you are recommended to change things.....follow that and do an oil change w/filter every 5k....with Synthetic and you will be golden!!!!

You already paid the dealer for your car when you bought it.....no need to keep on paying them.....DIY man!!!!

Exactly. A high percentage of dealer profits come from service. It's just like any other business that sells a product that requires service. My friend owns his own A/C and heating company and makes more money doing service calls than he does installing A/C and heating systems because of the time involved. He can be in an out of someone's house doing a service call in 30-60 minutes and charges them $200+ to change a filter, check coolant pressures and do a simple walk around looking for more issues to charge more money to fix. In the summer time, he's got more A/C service calls than he can take and does about a dozen of those PER DAY. It'd be nice to make $2,000 a day, huh? That's just the way it is when you decide that you can't or won't do the job yourself.

My wife brought our MDX in for one of these scheduled service things one time without me knowing and I'm the type to do this stuff on my own. I went ballistic when I found out it cost us $300 for them to do minor things like the air filter, rotate tires, etc... I could have done it for well under $100 and maybe 1-2 hours of my time.

Draining and flushing brake fluid is a more advanced task that is going to require two people to make it easier. As long as you take your time and make sure all the air is out of the lines, it's not too difficult, however, any time you're messing with the brakes, you need to make sure you do it correctly.

DIY while saves you money may not be a good idea if some type of issue should arrise and your warranty is in question. Fourtunatley i use to manage a shop and took care of it there with all the proper records i need JIC. I left on good terns so i still go back there and do my oil changes myself, the owners are super cool.
