14psi Outcome (56K WARNING)

the FCD is an overall bad solution to fuel cut. a proper remedy would be real engine management, not something that assists in blowing the motor like the FCD (under some circumstances)

sorry to hear that man, my turbo was shooting out oil like that to. Dealer wouldnt warranty it so I had to upgrade, well didnt have to but made more sense. Hopefully there is nothing else wrong with it, that would suck if its just a ring like with discreets car.

Another blown motor with the Joep FCD. Just like to point out that almost every motor that has blown has a Joep FCD with no engine management. Sorry to hear about the car though. Build it up nice.
heh. right, kiddo.

While this is true, you also have to consider I had my car boosting 14 or so before management was even an option. I think at that time, Linux was one of the very few to have a standalone, and that was even from an overseas company that didn't support the Protege at all (or so I think).

Anyway, I was doin it the "OG" way, and while I knew the pros and (moreso) cons, I was still game.

Have you looked at the tops of the pistons yet? Bet there's detonation marks all over from running lean with that FCD at such high boost. That probably ate away at the rings, too. Better the rings than breaking rods.

So what are you going to do next? Engine management, internals, both? Good luck with everything!

Next step: Get a job, buy a beater, go to school, drop cash in to the MSP to get to a decent point, decide then the fate of the og msp.

The rods are probably bent as well.

Looks just like what we found on Discreets' Speed. Turned out to be #4 piston had cracked along with a failed turbo. Bet you have both as well. But feel fotunate it wasn't a catastrophic failure with a hole in the block, just a suttle die down.

Its seems the harder you push the FS, the more suttle the engine failure. Go figure.

14psi without engine mag sys=$1500. on parts and some 8hrs of labor so I would not recomend it to anyone>I know this. (hump)

Or fix the car yourself instead of paying someone else to do it. Not only do you save cash, you learn about the inner workings of the thing you love.

Will it be done in 8 hours? I highly doubt it.
Will it be done with better quality than a shop? I highly think so.

4hrs taking s*** off (block still in car)>1hr porting intake mani>3 hrs putting it all back. The first 5hrs are done .Now I`m just waiting on the cp pistons then I can her done(3hrs give or take 3 to 4 or 6) (cool)
