1320's coming soon....

My car is in parts right now because....working on a way of getting more out of the engine for free. Taking out any not needed parts out... A/C, extra parts that were for the fogs, back seat, sound deading material from door pannels, no more spare, no sound system. Because this weekend it is track time!!! Will be heading to my brother house in Delaware, then heading to either Mason-Dixon or MIR for some runs. After that posting the slips on here from his house. :) I cant wait! :D :D :D :D

seems like a lot of stuff to take out just for a weekend. but weight reduction is good. who needs a back seat anyways?.......wait a sec (naughty)

be waiting for the results

If I ever went to the trouble of removing the A/C compressor, I wouldn't put it back in. What a pain...then you have to get it recharged again and hope it doesn't leak.

Good luck with your run.

I get a kick out this, people going through this much trouble. Unless you weigh 400 pounds yourself and in desperate need to have less weight, I'd just learn to drive better :) Seems easier.

NOt saying your like this, don't take this the wrong way, but I get a real kick out of some people. They'll go out, replace their already nice rims for ones that are 5 pounds lighter, spend all kinds of money, on them. Then turn around and put 4 12" subs in the trunk and all the amps needed to run it, DVD, and LCD screens in their dash, heck they'll probably drive around with 3 other people overweight in the car too and think their faster becuse their rims are 5 lbs lighter...ha.ha..

(2thumbs) newf!

I love reading in the various car mags about dropping a bunch of creature comforts and car weight to "improve handling and acceleration" then adding it all (and then some) back in with accessories, especially accessories mounted well above the roll center (like amp racks on the package shelf...) or accessories that reduce speed/increase wind resistance (like non-functional spoilers/airdams/widebodykits/etc.).

Don't get me wrong, mods are good (great, in fact). All my subwoofer and amp package came stock mounted high - on/under the package shelf - and I'm not moving them. There would be little debate that my MSP's rear spoiler creates aerodynamic drag (it does) and little useful downforce other than its own weight (it's a great looking handle to close the trunk with though!). My only point is that one has to look at the *whole package* in doing mods, and make decisions accordingly! My decisions will be different from others' - which is what makes this whole hobby interesting.

Sounds like Dave_13_2002 has a bigtime Plan, and is sticking to it - GOOD LUCK DAVE! Let us know how it goes.

I pulled EVERYTHING out of my 91 protege, including the dash, etc... It only made 150lb difference... My suggestion is to only pull out the spare tire. It's not worth the .1 in the 1/4.

I still like the article where Sport compact car got a SE-R Spec V and chopped the living crap out of it. and it dropped the 1/4 time by like 3sec!!!oh btw there was nothing left of the car either

Yeah my brother has a EVO and it is stock, he is saying that I will not even be within a sec of his time. I plan on doing a lot of runs, adj. my tire pressure to better psi. I was thinking about 34-36psi front 30-32 psi rear. How does that sound to start with. Oh my roomate work at a part shop so I get all my installs/removals for free.

Plus I have made up my mind on what this car will be for. I am going to keep my eclipse make it my daily driver, Take the MSP and make it a pure drag car, no holds bar, non street legal, drag strip terror. So I doubt I will be putting everything back in. I droped the idea of WW kit, and that money will be for spools stage 2 with microtech upgrade (until a full stand alone comes along that I like). Then I will buy Forged internals, knife edged crank, port polish, over bored TB, NX N'tercooler (hey it would not hurt), full roll cage, ACT/Fidenza clutch/fly package, all fuel delivery parts upgraded, JIC/HKS suspension, Quife(sp?) LSD, save for unibody(maybe not sure), well you get the idea. My goal is to take this car from a 14-15 sec car stock to a 9-10 sec car. This will slowly be taking effect over the next few years. :D No flames please I am fully aware this car is meant to AutoX but I don't like autox that much.

Dave, how do you like that JIC exhaust? Do you have a custom downpipe or is it stock? Also what did you do about the cats?

*sigh* what a waste, dave keep the MSP and go buy a protege ES or something cheap to begin with. Not worth tearing down such a well built car to make it go straight.

Hell, just get an LX 2.0 if it is just going to be used for drag racing. That might save a little more weight too.

why are you planning on a spooling kit? pardon my french , but what the ****? why did you buy the MSP to get rid of everything and then redo everything with different parts. i think the MSP should just be tuned better with some nice minor modifications..., not entirely stripped and rebuilt....

why the qualfie LSD then if you dont like Autox? do you really need LSD for straight line? even so, our cars already HAVE one. i just dont get it.

i am in agreeance with dexter...this car was built to handle and if you get it going straight really fast thats all fine and dandy but you miss the fun at taking hairpin curves at 50 lol...and yes i do drag with my car but im making minor mods while keeping the handling the same and all that...just typiccal rice stuff ya know...thinking a out NOS, new exhaust, new intake junk like that...and my backseat is DEFINATLY staying in...lol
