Hell, if you want to drag get a base Mustang and bolt on a supercharger and strip off the extra weight.

as much as i don't like the idea you're right. huge aftermarket for the shitboxes but they can be pretty quick for pretty cheap

Yeah my brother has a EVO and it is stock, he is saying that I will not even be within a sec of his time. I plan on doing a lot of runs, adj. my tire pressure to better psi. I was thinking about 34-36psi front 30-32 psi rear. How does that sound to start with. Oh my roomate work at a part shop so I get all my installs/removals for free.

Plus I have made up my mind on what this car will be for. I am going to keep my eclipse make it my daily driver, Take the MSP and make it a pure drag car, no holds bar, non street legal, drag strip terror. So I doubt I will be putting everything back in. I droped the idea of WW kit, and that money will be for spools stage 2 with microtech upgrade (until a full stand alone comes along that I like). Then I will buy Forged internals, knife edged crank, port polish, over bored TB, NX N'tercooler (hey it would not hurt), full roll cage, ACT/Fidenza clutch/fly package, all fuel delivery parts upgraded, JIC/HKS suspension, Quife(sp?) LSD, save for unibody(maybe not sure), well you get the idea. My goal is to take this car from a 14-15 sec car stock to a 9-10 sec car. This will slowly be taking effect over the next few years. :D No flames please I am fully aware this car is meant to AutoX but I don't like autox that much.
all right here we go from the top
why a stage 2? are you drag racing a snail?
plus we dont have any specifics on the microtech yet.
if you are going to drag it you really are going to spend all that money and buy a generic kit made for the street?
YOU CANT overbore the TB anymore. trust me 2mm isnt going to do s***. you need a custom unit WITH a custom intake manifold.
listen not to flme but you need to read alot more about what it takes to MAKE horsepower before you start anything.
there is alot more to it thaan just some mods you pick up from some mag.
ALOT MORE. please im not trying to be a dick but ive been thru this with my car already trust me.its not that simple.

Actually, if you want to start out light with the Protege, start with the DX. Base model DX is the lightest stock Protege. Or you could do what my bro and I are considering, FE3T in a first gen RX-7. It's not hard to get the first gen. under 2000 lbs.

with all the money you want to put into ruining a speed.

Just buy and EVO or STI.....done.

Serioulsy, buy the time your strip it down, rebuild everything, buy every kit and part known to man kind....whattya got? A protege that does the 1/4 in about the same time as an old wrx or a stock rustang gt...whoppie.

Just hold out for a while, get the STI or EVO. At least you'll have AWD, and be abe to drive it everyday and not park it 5 days out of 7.

I just don't get it. We drive Protege's. Not vipers or 911's. I never bought the car to dump 10 grand in parts that I will never get a dime back from when I sell it. It's a nice small car, that has a sporty edge to it that's still good on gas and insurance, and it just happens to look great. That's why I bought it.

Exactly correct...I had a 1st gen '82 RX-7 that would run 12's all day long with a street ported 13B and Holley Carb. It was a very light car.
