12 psi on stock bottom end?

I shouldn't admit this, but I've been running 10 on no power mods cept a FMIC, and leaky WGA for a few months now... I'm at 94K... lol

That's not nearly enough to run safely. And without a wideband is just crazy. I'm honestly surprised you haven't boomed yet, if you are running 10+ psi.

Zuku26, who are you refering to? I'm running 14 psi on a stock bottom end for nearly 2 yrs now.

Sorry Crazy I was refering to the OP. I know you've been running high boost on a stock bottom end. I've researched most of your guys that are unforged, till my head almost exploded. Crazy, you have a ton of supporting mods and are not running a stock mapped ecu. It's rigs like yours and few others that have almost given me the confidence to turn my boost up to 8!!! LOL

Amdeus: your question sounded like many noob questions that have been posted on here. Usually when asking a question like that it's a requirement to post your mods or you won't get any useful info. We've seen a ton of people post " so and so runs ___PSI without any issues so I did and my motor popped!!! why did this happen??" So to save you and others the trouble someone always jumps in to clarify properly.
so to answer your question Yes many run 12 psi and higher...but with proper mods

well im planin to be boosted soon, i want to run 8 psi
will that be safe? and occasionally turnnin it up to 10 psi at the most?
i will be running on the stock msp ecu, have a fmic, boost, oil pressure, and a narrowband gauges
fuel cut defender, mazda millenia pcv valve, greddy rs bov, and im am planing on getting a new clutch fly wheel combo, mm and a new turbo as mine blows by oil untill its warmed up, when i get my taxes back.

im getting a hi boost turbo kit with the ihi vf22 , will i be able to run over 8psi with the stuff that comes with the kit including a wideband a/f , oil pressure , 440 injectors , greddy emanage (and hiboost computer thigny ) port and polished head and one step colder plugs? thx

im a little lost - i just looked at hiboost's website, the "hiboost computer thingie" that comes with the kit - according to their site, is a haltech f10x. i dont know a ton about standalones, but im sure you or someone else can tell me, why would you ever run emanage with a thousand dollar standalone EMS? that just makes no sense to me.

and i dont know the specifics on the trim of the turbo that comes with the kit, but assuming its similar to the stocker, youd be fine at 8psi with a little tuning, but i wouldnt go much over that until you did the exhaust. after that its all in the tune... i wouldnt break 10 or 11psi.

lol some of stuff people get so they can run higher boost is a little over kill. Guess everyone runs what they feel is safe with. My last motor i built is now making close to 342whp. (ZETEC) I would say i feel save with what i got now :p

any one know if i should be good running 8 psi and occasionally 10 psi at the drag strip?

well im getting the emanage with the 2nd hand kit. and for the exhaust , i have a racingbeat catback 2.5". ill do the cat pipe with 2.5 and hiflow cat this spring , or just put a straight 2.5" test pipe:D
anyone know if theres an upgrade for the turbo pipe to the cat pipe ?

(encourage You don't know this car very well. Go ahead, run 12psi on your setup, then come back and ask us where to buy forged internals. (screwy)

The problem is that the motor in the MSP is the same motor found in all other 2.0 Mazda economy cars to difference. These motors were not designed for boost and like to blow up. There have been plenty of lost motors at stock boost with stock turbo.
Other brands of cars tend to be built and designed differently. But hey it's your motor do what you think is best for you. and good luck. I look forward to reading your future threads!!

edit: knoxjoe and I were thinking the same thing at the same time!!!

I will say to you that if you are smart that you will use a 2 stage boost controller and primarily roll around at stock psi and hit the switch for those times that you want more, but do so based on your own risk tolerance.

Think people are getten this wrong. All i asked was if anyone has lol. Not a list of i need this and i need that for 10 psi.

Please read before posting. I didnt say i was going to was just asking. -face palm-

to answer your question directly then... yes, people have done it. and most of them are no longer using the block they were using when they did.

asking the question usually implies that you are considering acting on the discussed topic. the people warning you against doing so here are looking out for your best interest as we've all seen enough of these things blow up. nobody is attacking you, they're trying to save you a lot of trouble.

I understand that but some people are not reading and just posting flames at this point. This is by no means my first FI.
