10 Degrees this morning - Bad noises coming from car!

It was about 10 Degrees this morning, and on the way to work, right away I heard the noise from the rear of the car. Then I heard it mostly from the front of the car. It happens when I hit bumps in the road. No noise when slowing down(brakes applied), or small bumps. Its like a quick creak but is pretty loud.

My guess it's coming the spring perches? That's where it sounds like its coming from.

Stock springs. First time I heard the noise, drove it last night without noise but it was really cold/windy last night so I don't what could have frozen up to make a noise like that.

Anyone else have this/similar problem?

Remove the motor mount to go to dealer?

The colder it gets, the more noises my car makes.

My guess is control arm bushings. Cold rubber = hard, noisy rubber.

yes had the noises all winter. I even asked my dealer about it.

This is my second winter whenever it gets this cold my suspension makes terrible noises until the car warms up they start to go away. It only happened when it got real cold like it was this AM or when it sat all day and I left work real late.

Yeah don't worry about it, same thing happen to me, sense my car was stock last winter, I bugged my dealer and found out, the colder it is the noisier our cars are. That noise is the springs from what the dealer told me, the colder the worst.

Been 5-6 F for 3 days and pretty much hear a lot of strange noise as well, goes away after 15-20 miles.

Its been a big jump, bigger than I thought from the 6 to the speed3. The 6 was more on the sport luxury side, so it was a good ride and cornered well for a bigger car.

But when moving more to the sport side you compromise things for performance which I am fine with. Just not used to yet.

My MS3 crunches at low speed over the speed bumps in my complex. No big deal though. It rides great the rest of the way.

Same problem. I thought it was rubbing because thats what it sounded like. Sounds like its bushing creak below 10F.

A youtube search for other bushing creak dug up some info; when the suspension compresses, it wants to rotate the shock absorbers. The rotation inside the bushings will cause the creaking. Either the grease they used needs to be recalled, or the bushings themselves are some kind of racing style bushings that shrink with cold.

It's annoying and it sounds awful...what can ya do.

When it gets down to -30 here I'll record a video, I'm sure it will sound like the world is ending inside the car!

yeah it does end up going away after driving a bit and it warms up. It was very minimal when I got out of work 18 degrees. Also when I went for a drive it was cold again 10 degrees but the car was already warm and it wasn't there or barely there.

Coming from your suspension. sti struts sometimes do this as well. Sometimes you can grease them most of the time their is nothing you can do.

Yeah, don't worry about it. There was another thread where everyone was hootin and holler sayin "Get it fixed, that's bulls***!!" It's cold..no big deal...

I used to live in Grand Forks, ND (military - not my choice ) and there were weeks on end where it never got above -10 degrees F ambient (I've felt -60F which doesn't feel good at all). Talk about cars making funny noises. They don't even want to run at those temps. That's where you want to use a 0W-30 oil.

Ya mine do the same thing. first thing in the morning it sounds like my struts are exploding. Ive asked the dealer numerous times. Just cold thats all. it goes away in like 10 min of driving. If your really concerned grease them up a little.

It's the anti-roll bar collar bushings that are making the noise.

i thought it was come tire rubbage. then when the suspension warmed up and such it settled in and started "to work"
