So i hit 10,000 miles on the m2 a week or two ago. I went to go start it the other day, Saturday, and she wouldnt crank over, sounded like my starter was not engaging. After about 10 tries i called my dealer and explained the issue. I had it towed. I had to wait till monday to figure out what the issue was and if it was going to be a warranty covered issue. So i called on Monday and my service guy told me it was an electrical issue with my fuel pump and that i have to wait a few days for the new "upgraded" fuel pump to arrive from japan. So i waited with my rental m3 a few days more and eventually i got her back. I wonder if this was just a fluke or if there is an unknown issue recall coming soon?

In the Lounge and Welcome forum there is another fuel pump issue being discussed. There was mention of an upgraded fuel pump coming.

What is the build date of your car?

My thoughts exactly. Being a BMW tech, when I hear/read "M3" I think M3. That'd be a hell of a rental. Hope your 2 gets fixed soon. Mine is just over 12k so we'll see if there are any upcoming issues with it.

sorry for the late reply, it seems that my upgraded fuel pump has diminished a little bit of my MPGs.
I was getting roughly about 38 per gallon but recently it been hovering in the 34-36 mpg.
I'm not sure if its just the pump but it also started getting cold here in minesnowta. Im not sure if the if the weather has something to do with my loss of mpg.
Also, Let me clarify, It was a MAZDA3. Not an M3, And if it was an M3 i would probably would not have returned it...
go from a being a good citizen to GTA in a day. :)

Dang, you're the second Minnesotan who's had their fuel pump die on them here. I need to cross my fingers.

Your drop in fuel economy is likely due to the temperatures, and that gas stations are now selling winter blend fuel. My own mileage is down a couple of MPG.
