1/8 mile track today. Embarrassed myself.

So yea, as the title states I embarrassed myself earlier today.

Although we did get a lot of looks and a few "what are those? those buggers are quick" as Randy (palerider) and I went to the track, I didnt do as well as I expected. Randy will probably agree.

I spent all week studying the timeslips in Laloosh's 1/4 mile thread as well as some in this section and I expected to break into the 8s. I didn't even get close. This was the first time at the track with this car, it was damp and 45 out, and I am on stock tires, but I expected a better time.

A few people there (there were only a few that didnt have full race built cars) said that this track isn't very good for people on street tires. I agree. I wheelhopped so bad (even with a mount) that my radar detector fell off the windshield and led to a 9.9 at 80. (boom01)

We will try again soon. It's supposed to warm up a bit and there is another track nearby that is usually more prepped for street cars on their test and tune nights and I netted .2 better with my old car. So hopefully I'll get my 60ft down and get in the 8s.

Here is my best time of the day. I'm car 23 as noted with the "me" I wrote on the slip. I was satisfied with my trap, and I hope that would be enough to get me around a 13.7 or 13.8 in the 1/4.....

My best time was 9.385 @ 80.82. 60' was 2.335. This was with dsc on.... and very active....

My other two runs almost destroyed my car. Luckily after very timid drive home, its probably just my ego thats broken.

BTW....If anybody doubts this time... I'll post my slip:)

I need a vacation.... this s*** wasnt easy as I thought itd be. I prefer dynos and illegal street racing quite frankly....lol

Yeah the drag strips are murder on our cars!! I wheel hopped so badly once that it screwed up my alignment. I think my hood is crooked now because of it to. If there were drag strips with surfaces like the street this car would be running high 13's easy stock.

Try some different methods to get to the 60. Be patient no need to be hard on the car. You will find it in time like Davidb said .

I believe I have the best 60ft time of anybody on this forum with a fully stock MS3 @2.17

My first quarter mile pass on my Hayabusa was slower than some MS3 times I've seen posted here. Don't feel bad.

Yeah a 2.1 60ft sucks for a rear wheel or awd car and one with slicks or drag radials sure.

My 60ft time is in reference to a stock MS3 not a modded MS3, kept it in context.

i wouldnt feel bad, i have been trying to get decent 60ft times on the street (calibrated a g-tech to run nearly identical times as at the drag strip ) but for the life of me havent seen 2.2s yet. I'm a bit old school and every drag race car i had was either a 3 or 2 speed automatic rwd. so i am not totally inept but i cannot get it to stick

Well the point I'm was trying to make is that a 2.17 60ft is outstanding for a completly stock MS3 considering I haven't seen many below 2.2 that didn't have quite a few mods.
I think it's safe to say that a 2.2 is a Great 60ft for stock MS3

last December when I was stock(900 miles, BONE stock) I cut a 2.12 60ft. In my bolt on 1999 civic si on azenis I would cut 2.0's all day long..

I'll try to find my slip of my 2.12...

I did get 2 2.2s but on one my clutch got too hot and didn't grab second and the second 2.2 I wheelhopped so bad I let off in first, shifted to 2nd, and wheelhopped- let off again.. and went 9.9 at 80. But it was sprinkling and I was the last run of the day...

once the bead is set, and you've run on your tires a bit, you have to forcibly BREAK the bead to get the tires off with a big pneumatic press. they won't pop off at 20 psi I don't think.
