1/4 mile drag tips

Anyone,anyone... Bueller... Bueller... I need some help... im pretty much a rook.. anything... i saw something like feather out the clutch at 2900 rpm... tire pressure 20psi... it was funny i was down at Portland Int. Racewy... and some kid told me to start in 2nd.. i almost punched him in the face... im not that bad... just need some advice... i think its mostly practice and feel... thks

I ran 14.0 completely stock at PIR. I launched at ~3k, let the clutch out quick without letting the tires spin. Wait until you get going and if the tires are not spinning, hammer down. You really just need to try different things. I went down on a cold night when it was supposed to rain. You could literally hot lap and never wait in line. It was great.

I dont let off the gas when I race, but a lot of people dont feel comfortable with that.

What color MS3 do you have? I was driving down the Padden one sunday and hear someone honk, didnt think much of it, until a TR MS3 went by me. It had dark rims with a red lip. Mine is black.

EDIT* I actually let off for the 5th gear shift, I cant seem to shift that gear as fast as the others, so I let off. I shift at 6k RPM.

last weekend was my first time.... i dont know about the tires though... it seems like i would fly through them if i went every weekend

What did you run last weekend? What mods do you have?

The track isnt too hard on tires. Just keep them from spinning much. When I ran 14.0, I only spun my tires in the water box a tiny bit in 1st and then staged. Street tires werent really made to be heated up, but rather a quick clean off is all they really need.

i ran 14.3 @ 100 with MS CAI, MS CBE... i couldnt seem to get my starts down couldnt stop my wheels from breaking loose esp. shifting into 2nd... need a little practice that all

my advice:

concentrate on getting your 60' down first. these cars have the potential to be in the 2.1 realm stock. unless your 60' is close to that, you're not going to be able to get where you want to be. it's all in the launch.

I launched at 2500 and ran 1st all the way to 6000 rpm. granny shift to second and run it to 6000 as well. power shift to third and power shift every other gear at 5750 (or as close as you can be to that). it will feel like you're shifting really early, but your ETs will thank you!

azmavhockey3, Cosrksport has an Accessport at their shop with your name all over it.

I picked mine up today. (burnout)
