I picked up an '08 Mazda6 about 3 months ago, had it checked out at a local mec. shop recommended to me and everything checked out. A diagnostic test was run through the computer and everything looked good. The only problem was a transmission oil leak that I had the guy fix.
About a month or two ago I started noticing a clang/thud coming from my car when I was driving. It may have been happening before then, but I only started paying attention to it about 6 weeks or so ago. After a couple weeks I noticed that this thud would appear when my car (dual transmission, but always drive as an automatic) switched from 3rd gear to 4th. The car itself would experience a tiny jerk, but otherwise the ride wasn't really affected much - so it doesn't seem to be shift shock related.
Anybody know what it might be. I'm really hoping to avoid the cost of a transmission overhaul.
Thanks.
