08 map lights won't work when set on "door"

I noticed a couple of weeks ago my map lights on all 3 rows quit turning on when set on door but they work when you turn them to on. My mechanic checked everything he could think of and couldn't find any problems. I took it to Mazda yesterday and they want to charge $100 just to diagnose it and then they'll see if my extended warranty covers it. Any ideas?

I know in my '10 the switch over the rear view mirror controls all lighting in the car. That switch must be set to door for the others to work when opening doors.

I am finding a lot of these threads talking about this issue but find none where they reply with the fix or any part number. I have an 08 and the map switch will turn on the lights when switch is on, but they will not come on when set to door and any or all doors open will not turn the lights on. Every once in awhile they will work with the door switch but not too often. I read that it could be a contact issue with the wiring but can't even find anything to help me take the front master switch out to make sure I have good contact or if I need a new master switch???? The lights on the doors light up when the doors are open so I know they are working as they should. Any help would be appreciated...
