wongpres edit: Allocation for the Canadian market is 750 vehicles. The first 250 of these will be True Red (if you want to see True Red, it's available on the '06 MX-5). The remaining 500 vehicles will be offered in one of two colours: True Red and one other colour (this colour hasn't been decided yet).

Mazdaspeed3 will come in one specification-only (no factory options at all - there will be accessories though). No NAV and no moonroof.

What you are saying is that there will only EVER be 750 of these cars in Canada? What about 2008?

No sunroof/Moonroof is a deal breaker for me. I am no longer interested in this car... Too bad - I guess it's a GTI or R32 (if the R32 ever comes to Canada).

Not necessarily, 750 is the allocation plan as of now, so there will definitely be 750. What happens later has not been determined at this time and depends on a bunch of market and business factors (both within Canada and globally).

So there may or may not be more than 750, but for Canadians who must have one, then get one of these 750 as there can be the chance this is the only allocation. Taking the Canadian Mazdaspeed6 as an example, additional allocation has been provided for that vehicle, but the market and business factors for that vehicle is different to those for the Mazdaspeed3.

I was waiting until the next color was announced. Don't want red. Too "look at me"! Great for folks with radar guns and people wanting to "race". Was hoping it would be the blue which I understand is exclusive to the Mazdaspeed3. If it's white, the MS3 is out.

Seriously, how much of a pain is it to import one into Canada from the States?

Yes, it's official, and it's a huge pain to import a vehicle from the US.

Further update on Mazdaspeed3 colours in Canada. On top of the addition of Crystal White Pearl, Canada will also get Black Mica, and Cosmic Blue beginning in the next batch (Feb 07 production)

It's Feb '07 production, so absolute earliest to reach Canadian dealerships would be around the end of March.

LRHK's dealer says end of Jan, so let's see who's right!
