'06 MS6 value

You lot should think yourselves lucky, here in Britain they sell at 24,500. I paid 18,000 for an 18 month old car, yes that right around $35,000 for an 18 month old car !!!

Mine was an 'executive demo', meaning someone at Mazda Corporate had it before it was picked up at a Mazda auction with 2000 miles on it. I paid $22,600.

yo.

do you have a shaved head?

i drive a black mica ms3 and saw a blackcherry ms6 pulling out of the officemax parking lot at park and plano pkwy one day.

just curious.

So I was at a local dealership this past weekend and saw an '06 silver MS6 GT (nav) w/20k miles. Condition wise... it looked 'ok'. There were a few unsightly rock chips and even a couple minor scrapes that bothered me a bit. (afterall, my car is 3 years older and it's still in like-new condition.) I guess some people just don't baby their car as much. but I digress...

That stuff is relatively minor... especially compared to what I'll get to in a second.

Rear tires looked ok but the fronts had a surprising about of wear. Car has 50% tints all around with a cheesy "strong island motor sports" sticker on the back. That alone gives me an idea as to what type of driver he was. (see: aggressive)

He did have a CPE CAI and an aftermarket exhaust. dealer didn't have any info on the exhaust... I tried to find a brand name but couldn't. Looked to be high quality though. definitely mandrel... at least 2.5"

So my question is this... with a clean title, how much do you think this car is worth?

now the bad news... according to the dealer (car fax oddly enough says the car is 'clean') I later learned NJ doesn't have to report 'flood damaged cars'. lol wtf is that? but anyway... according to the dealer (who apparently specializes in this sort of thing) the car was involved in a 'low level flood' (that's probably what they said about cars from katrina!) and was meticulously repaired. He said the carpeting was taken out and replaced.

Although everyone I talk to says to stay away, nobody really has a reason. (other than it not sounding very good.) At the same time... the car is listed at $18k so... i suppose if you're willing to take the risk, it might be a good deal.

what do you guys think? not to give it free advertising or anything (afterall, part of me wants this car!) here's a link....

Just to give an idea, i went around some dealers, looking to trade-in my speed6 before, it has 20k miles, 2006 GT with NAV...most places offered $19k for my car (based on their market price, or so they say)..and they'll prob sell it for 1 - 2 grand on top of that...

But flood damage, could be a disaster down the road though, you'll never know how bad it was in the flood/water damage has done...rust and corrosion and stuff...just throwing ideas...

Stay away?

I could give you a reason to think about it - flood damage can affect the electrical systems. Even if it's not apparent right now, it could show up later on down the road.
Electrical bugs are the worst, extremely hard to get them out unless you know the car very well.

I bought my MS6 Sport for 18500.00 and it only had 7800 miles on it. One owner...wife got preggo traded it for a CX7. The car is perfect.

what sort of interest rate (assuming you financed it) were you able to get? I heard the best rate you can get (for 60 months) is like 10% these days (private party) Since you can get far better rates on a used vehicle (from a dealer) and obviously new... it sort've negates part of/all the savings you'd get from buying it from a private party.

Then again... $18.5k for a clean MS6 S is a pretty damn good deal! (even with a 10% rate) congrats!

I think 7.2%....I would have to check the papers to be sure....

but yes..I did get a "Killer" deal...(lol2)

I would take the S40, Probably because I've had one, what are the options? Premium surround sound? DSTC? Sunroof? Leather? or T-TEC? Fogs?

01Pro - Idunno, I'm pretty partial to the MS6. I like the styling better than a Subie or Volvo. Work on the dealer to come down or find another who'll deal with your needs. Some other Mazda dealer is gonna want to sell a car bad enough, and will make you a sweet deal on one. You'll end up with more bang for the buck than either of the other two if you're patient.

Chico - Don't touch that ass-kicked, flood damaged MS6! What's low level flooding? Bubba drove it into a lake, or did the friggin' tide come in!!?? Spend the xtra 5K or so on a new one, or go find one that's in GOOD used condition. Better than having a nightmare of a rusting P.O.S. a few weeks months or years down the road. Once water gets into wiring it sits in the cables and starts to corrode everything. Before long it's a major headache. If it's salt water, you're really in deep doo-doo, it will suck and you'll never unload it. Between the water and the scratches and the hotrodder sticker crap, the alarm bells should be ringing, and LOUD! Run away.

there's an '07 Sport at my dealer for around $23k with rebates and S-plan pricing.

That's an EXCELLENT price considering they made FAR less 07 models. I got my 06 for $23500 in July of 2006, but dealerships were literally flooded with them at the time, and incentives were massive. I have seen so many less 07s at dealership, so I'd bet anything they made far less 07 models. 23k this time last year was more common. I consider that a super deal. There aren't gonna be leftover Mazdaspeed 6s in the lots in March/April of 2008 like there were this year on the 06 model. People who want a Speed 6 better not wait too long. :)

I got my 07 Velocity Red Speed6 Sept 13th for $23,500 with all incentives....All of 8 miles on the odo....
