04 RX-8 Stereo Problem

Has anyone had a problem with their Bose stereo display completely "wigging out"? It's just started flashing and scrolling random symbols, numbers, letters, etc. The stereo and cd player works fine, I just can't see anything on the screen. Should I try disconnecting the battery to re-set it? Never posted on here before and don't know if I'm even in the right place

You are in the right place.

I have not seen that nor have I heard about it happening. Have you had any work done on the car recently? What were you doing when it happened? How long have you owned the vehicle? Miles? Has the firmware in the car been updated?

Asking a lot of questions, because I'm not familiar with that problem.

i have a very similar problem, the screen goes off and all the stereo and air con buttons become inactive. But when i hold the tune button in on the stereo it lights up, then i can use the other buttons untill i let go then it goes off again!!!!

For both of you:

Open up the center console and make sure that all the connectors, four or five if I remember correctly, are connected properly. This should fix holly's problem for sure, and likely grant's issues as well. While you have the console open you might as well fix the heater control problem. Look at the 8club DIY section for the heater repair thread. Hope this helps.
