03' Sparco Shift Knob

I went to the dealer and asked if I could get a replacement 03 shift knob, since the leather came off. This happened awhile ago and I think I accidentally threw away the piece of leather. So since I don't have this to show the dealer, they wont give me a free replacement. He said they had them available and they were $250...hmmm, yeah I'll pass

I bought the Gun Metal shift knob to match my interior you just need to find the right "Thread Piece" so it screws right on. But I really wanted the orange one. Although it looks pretty clean cause I'm going for that CF/black and orange look. And I can really feel the shifter go into gear, I felt resistance problems with the sparco. I dunno, I like it. (cool)

whered u find these at? price??

ichiban

jc whitney. I got the Ichiban roundie for like $29, but they apparently "updated their website" and the prices changed.

Well in the end of all this, the Sparco X-Speed didn't work. It fits in fine threadwise. It's just that the boot doesnt attach to the base of the knob like the stock one. So you have about an inch-1/2 of space that the boot floats up and down.. overall looks cheap and dumb to me. I could always buy a new boot that adjusts but yea, I'm just sticking without the leather strip for now. It looks fine, I'll live. Can always go to the upholstery thing like t3ease suggested up in the begining.. but yea thats the end of that >=)

Oh yea as i figured, if I were to switch the knob I couldn't keep the old one. So Sorry Luv2RedLine.. no knob 2 offer you.

Nice. Again, as this whole car is, Mazda outsourced parts and then changed the design inhouse to reduce costs. I don't know if the knob is an example of this but seeing as how mine is coming apart and has worn down at around 30k miles, I'm left to assume the same thing happened here.
Yep and it leaves me wondering if they some how "cheapened" up the exhaust from what Racing beat had in mind because several have come apart right at the cats. :(
My knob is fine at 30k not one bit of wear that I can see. Maybe I have a girly grip :p

I find this hilarious as when the 2003.5's came out everyone was hating them because they weren't Sparco's and claimed the Sparco's were "higher quality" then the Mazdaspeed ones. I always found the Sparco's had a cheaper feel, and I don't like how skinny they are. But yellow in an orange car isn't going to look right, I agree there.

Lets see how the 2003.5's hold up now.

The MP3 ones sucked. The leather came apart, started peeling and so on after 20,000 kms??? like wtf? My 2003.5 seems excellent so far.

I carry some Sparco and MOMO knobs at my store, albeit a limited variety. Check em out if you fancy :)
