03.5 msp acting oddly....... help with boost

:
03.5 protege MSP
okay, i bought the car with a toasted head, replaced the headgasket and had the head rebuilt and nothing left untouched on it i get the car back together, it has a high idle ... no big deal addressed that issue, NOW the car seems like a lousy slow NON turbo protege .. until 5000 rpms then all of a sudden the turbo EXPLODES with boost and the car take off like a bat out of hell, the boost gauge does NOT show a slow increase of boost it only reads 1.5-2 psi and then around 5k it slams down with 6-7 psi any ideas? 0.o

possibly a boost/vac leak. if it is bad enough it may take until 5k for the turbo to overcome the leak and build correct boost.

did you double check everything after doing the head swap? could be a missing vac line or incorrectly setup vac lines / solenoids. or even a leaking intercooler pipe or intercooler.

what kind of vac are you pulling at idle? do notice any other differences aside from boost in the way the car drives? do you have any CELs?

^ sounds like a vac leak... Is the car Completly stock or theirs work done?

I bought the car knowing it had a blown headgasket, it has an aftermarket OBX header synapse WG and a somewhat larger Turbo.. vacuum is a steady 20 inhg and under load it builds... 1-2 psi 5000 rpms all 6-7 psi and I haven't been able to find a leak anywhere I even checked the bov and its not leaking I'm at a loss -_-

what turbo? get a boost/vac gauge in there.
it has a vac/boost gauge, it has a weird size turbo, .48 hot side and a .67 compressor the CEL dosent work, and it HAS had a fire under the hood at one point in time before ive ordered an engine harness for it so im replacing that once it comes in... ive heard other people talk about the egr/boost sensor causing this problem but idk how i would get around that. i pulled the intake boot off the turbo and checked the turbo for binding and shaft play and there is NONE other than the ordinary tiny bit of shaft play which is compensated for with oil pressurei redid ALL the vacuum lines, and check ALL the imrc for functionality and theres no problem there. it ALSO i forgot to mention, once u get into the higher rpms.. it will either BOOST or lose ALL power until u lift your foot off the gas pedal ive not checked Fuel pressure .. yet but its almost like the engine just shuts off or goes apesht crazy and pulls REAL hard. idk whats up with it, but id like to get it fixed so i can get it sold.

boost/vac leak for sure

Fpr issue? or the pulsation dampener? the little white cap that SHOULD be on the dampener is missing and the screw can be turned by hand or vibrations ... would the WG have anything to do with the issue?
im borrowing a 38mm tial from my buddy to try that and see what it does any other suggestions? ive sprayed the WHOLE intake side of the motor with carb clean... dosent affect the engine at all sprayed the intercooler no change in engine rpms or vacuum the motor also wants to DIE after its revved up.

okay, i pulled the check engine coeds and ive got a LIST! here we go.......

im thinking the wiring harness being as bad as it is im going to have to replace it for sure to get most of these problems straightened out

oh geeze, thanks lol i bought the car for less than 2k with less than 60k on the odo so i figured it was an okay deal put a couple hundred into it and im sure some kid would DIE to have the car since its a turbocharged 5 speed. although, since its NOT a honda, im sure it will take a bit longer to sell than a civic. -_-
