125$ for the Karboy shifter/Bushings/knob

www.kartboy.com

If you want a few simple mods

CAI Intake (Injens the best)
MS Axl back exhaust
Headers
Motor mount incerts
Short Shifter + Bushings

I'll have to do some research and learn what these parts are really doing, but it sounds like a nice modest set up. These mods will add some legit performance (subtle)? Most importantly for me, I don't want to have to change the tuning of the car once I start making changes. In other words, I don't want one addition to mean I have to make changes somewhere else, in order to compensate. I can't stand the little civics running around that sound like weed whackers. I don't want anything like that. That's what I think of when I think of aftermarket exhausts and some other aftermarket parts.

Basically the set up lets the engine breath better, this give you much better throttle responce + noticeable more power (With all parts mentioned) and the mounts keep the engine better in place (reduce the wheel hop). The short shifter and bushings make for a shorter/faster throw & more precise shifting with less missed shifts.

Shes a 2.0L with a Nice deep tone, no wheed wacker sound out of her (People envy the sound of my exhaust)

Want to see a few clips of her at the track?

That was Last year, summer of 2005

In the Vid I had a CAI, & AXL Back exhaust thats pretty much it, no headers and no motor mounts (They are going in in the next week or so)

In the race where I eat the Mazda 3 2.3L I ran a 10:16 in the 1/8 that is not bad at all.

Nice video..looks like you made out alright there.

Ok, so if you only did one thing at a time, would you recommend starting with the kartboy, headers, exhaust...etc..? I'm pretty much going to spend my budget on the car, so I don't really have much to put into it right away. That's why it's so important I get vehicle that is pretty much flawless, both mechanically and aesthetically.

THANKS!!!! (ughdance)

I would go this order

Motor mounts
Short shifter + Bushings
CAI & Axle Back
Headers

Oh & I forgot to mention some 17's on 205/40/17's with Eibach coil over springs givin you the perfect drop.

& If the ES doesnt have the Strut bar already its a Must.

With that set up you dont have to worry about nothing, you will have a nice well running ride & be suprised and who you can pass.

Isn't the strut bar the reason MP3s and MazdaSpeeds don't have cruise control? This isn't an issue with the ES? About the motor mounts, does that just hold the engine in a stiffer postion? What's the benefit?

Naw you can still have Cruise with a strut bar

The motor mounts reduce the sway of the motor. the swaying of the motor causes the wheels to jerk and in the end the whole front end, Steering column and shifter jerk like crazy. this can distroy your stock mounts (They normally get torn anyways) & Even worse crack your transmition case. (shocked)

The Mounts keep her in place.

I would go with the mounts and Shifter + Bushings first to make her strong enough for the rest of the Mods and some "Spirited" Driving.

Sounds like good, reasonable advice. Who makes the best motor mounts?

AWR & RR-Racing

RR-Racing has Incerts for The front and rear only.

AWR Has full mount replacements for the Front & incerts availible

Im going with RR-Racing incerts Front and rear (AWR doesnt have a front incert) and AWR Side incerts.

You need all 4 mounts usually if your going for more power and harder driving on the regular

For moderot spirited driving with the few mods listed previously all you would need is incerts for the front and rear so I would go with RR_racing, the kit is 55$ Shipped.
