Can anyone tell me if the 2002 mazda protege lx 2.0 motor is an interference engine or not? My timing belt broke and im in need of some tech advice before i get it replaced so i know what im looking at replacing.

depends on who you talk to, there are a few, and almost every book, that say its an interference, when really it isnt
Ive spun the camshafts a full revolution with the timing belt off and never hit the pistons, so I can say from personal experience that they are not interference
