02 626 FSDE Question

Hey, I'm wasn't too sure where to ask this but I guess this will do. I have a friend who just blew his 02 626's engine. I'm pretty sure it's an FSDE but is it the same FSDE that is in the 3rd gen proteges? He said I can pretty take any part I want (as he will be buying a new engine) so I just want to know if the parts would be interchangeable. I am particularly interested in the IM and the valve cover (although it looks a bit different). I might try to take out the hole head if possible as I could maybe get it ported, etc and it would come in handy later on with a turbo. So yeah, if these engines are the same it would be awesome as I can get quite a few parts for free. Thanks.

its the same except the intake manifold doesn't have VICS but it does have VTCS

Ah, ok, so the 02's aren't the ones with the good IM's? But everything else should transfer over though right? I only ask because certain things look slightly different (like the valve cover).

Well if it does have the VTCS, can they be removed in the same way ours are? I know the IM is single runner type so it would have to be of some benefit to a turbo (when I get one).

Sorry to bump my own thread again, but I just looked up that the 02 626s came in both std and low emissions. I'm guessing the stds have no vtcs but the low emissions ones do (I think). Is there any way to tell whether the car is std or low emissions without taking off the IM to find out (that would be a lot of work for nothing)? Like does the VIN say something or is it said on the car somewhere?

get the vin number and call mazda, they might be able to help
Yeah I might just do that now as I'm really confused. I thought it had a single runner, but after looking at in in the daylight it's definitely a dual runner IM, but after staring and it and my car's IM for about an hour - they're definitely not the same manifold (similar but the 626 has longer runners and it's not as "tucked" under). I didn't realize Mazda (or Ford?) had made so many differeny manifolds for the FSDE. I'm beginning to wonder if this IM is going to be of any use or not. Anyone else have any info on this?
