my girlfriend has an 01 sedan, and i believe the transmission (auto) may be going bad. there is no CEL on or anything like that, but it started out just hesitating from a stop. youd hit the accelerator and the engine would rev a bit and wouldnt move right away. fast forward a few days, now its shifting hard, and in 3rd or 4th gear sometimes the car will just begin slowing down. you can slam the gas to the floor and it doesnt really move any more. its almost like the wheel speed and rpms arent really related, which makes me think its the torque converter or transmission.
on another note, it had a CEL for p0171 (left bank too lean) and i followed the diagnostic chart in the manual, one of the first things to check was the MAF, which was really really filthy, so i sprayed with with MAF cleaner. seemed to get rid of the light but it ran kinda funky after that...possibly related?
