What have you done to your MS3 today?

It's a very nice piece. I'm running the TWM full replacement shifter, and I swapped from a JBR heavy spherical knob to the extender with a very lightweight knob. Shift effort with the new setup is about the same, maybe a touch higher, but feel is much better. Throws are longer, obviously, so I'm...

What have you done to your MS3 today?

Hit 95,000 miles, so I changed the oil. Also installed a Stratified shift extender and a no-name Delrin knob for cold. I tried to lube by RSB bushings, but the zerk was broken on one bracket, and the other bracket was completely cracked, so I ordered a set of billet brackets from JBR.

    PVC modifications

There's only so much you can do to prevent buildup. With a stock or nearly stock car, a catch can and a good PCV valve are about the best you can do. Although I hear water/meth injection works wonders to keep clean valves clean ;)

    Spark plug replacement 2007 MS3

NGK ships the plugs with a .03 gap. Follow Mazda's recommendation and tighten them slightly.

    PVC modifications

Clean the intake/IM/valves and then get a catch can to help them stay clean. EDIT: I'm partial to the Damond Motorsports V1 catch can setup.

    Spark plug replacement 2007 MS3

Denso ITV20 (5339) or NKG NGK ILTR6A-8G (6510) are stock replacements. You need Iridium plugs (both those are) and they should be gapped .026-.028 inches. EDIT: You'll need a 5/8" spark plug socket and an extension (~8").

    Spark plug replacement 2007 MS3

Get some PBlaster. Try it yourself. If you still end up with a seized plug you can't get out, then take it to the shop.

    Mazdaspeed 3 rearstrut compatability

The MZ5 has a more weight over the rear than the MS3, so it's not surprising that the car is sitting lower in the rear. Onlinemazdaparts has MS3 rear end links for $30 each. You may find that you need adjustable links to cope with the lower ride height, in which case Edge Auto has pairs of...

    2009 Mazda5 Suspension Replacement

The OEM struts on the Gen 1 MS3 are garbage. Mine were gone at 30k. Assuming the rest of the suspension is in good order, the solution for uneven tire wear is an alignment. On stock springs (OEM height), you should have enough adjustment to get everything within spec. If you've swapped in...

    Mazda6 wheels on Mazda3??

Yes, 19x7.5 will physically fit, the bolt pattern is the same, and a 225x40 or so tire will keep the rolling diameter close. The offsets should be close enough to work, but I don't know if there are differences between the FWD and AWD variants of the 3.

    rim question

I'm going to say not without some work. MZ3 wheels are 5x114 bolt pattern, and, as far as I can tell, the Legacy is a 5x100. You'd have to buy adapters or get the wheels drilled (which is not a terribly good idea). I haven't even looked up offsets yet.

    Oil Filter Size and Type

Everything you mentioned except the PS-1002 has the same thread pitch (M20x1.5) roughly the same O.D. (~2.7"). Any of the above will work just fine. I would get the tallest filter that will fit in the available. I usually stick Purolator filters, so the PL14612 would be my choice, but Wix 57002...

    2015 Mazda3 Sedan & Hatch - 2.5 Liter "S" Model with Manual Transmission

Don't be ridiculous. A '72 Monte Carlo isn't sporty :P I said "all other things being equal" I'd take a manual over an auto, not that I would never own an automatic. My father has a '64 Corvair sedan that he's had for going on 40 years, and my mother has a '69 Malibu convertible that my...

    2015 Mazda3 Sedan & Hatch - 2.5 Liter "S" Model with Manual Transmission

I would, all other things being equal. I don't have any hate for automatics, but I do prefer to shift myself. With my current commute and the lack of traffic jams, I have no problem driving the MS3 as a daily. My project Audi is a manual as well. My Tundra is an auto, but I absolutely would have...

    Bent connecting rod!!

That isn't a bad price, assuming it includes everything. Who is doing the build? Do they have any experience with the MZR engine, and what type of warranty are they providing? What pistons and rods will be going in? Will you be having any head work done? I have not built my motor yet, but I...

Have you filled with anything higher than regular gas?

True, as far as it goes. A gallon of E10 (10% ethanol) blend will have 96-97% the energy of a gallon of pure gasoline. However, a station that sells E10 93 is selling E10 87. Additionally, blending ethanol raises the knock resistance, but does not increase the amount of octane present. The way...

    Bent connecting rod!!

It depends on your budget and the condition of your block. You can fight with the dealership and hope they change their minds. You can find another dealership, and hope they have a different view on rod replacement. Both those seem unlikely. In my experience, dealerships much prefer to swap the...

What have you done to your MS3 today?

Just maintenance. Changed sparkplugs, oil and fresh MT-90, cleaned the air filter and the MAF sensor, installed spin-on conversion, Corksport undertray, rotated the tires. Removed my JBR v2 SSP. Failed to find the source of my low speed front end creak. Discovered that threads in the bumper for...
