    Show me your roof box!

I figured I had better close the loop on this. Well, after unsuccessfully trying to buy used boxes on Craigslist and Kijiji here in Ottawa, I decided new was the route to go. I checked out importing for the US (I'm only about 20 minutes from the Ontario/NY border), but realized there wasn't...

Thanks flcruising! That's what I'm leaning towards, and I have a line on a Skybox16 for a not too bad price. Looks good!

Doesn't look bad! Too bad Sears Canada doesnt' sell it. Does Sears US carry it in store, or only online?

    Show me your roof box!

Hi All, debating on which roof box to go with for summer vacation this year. Recent addition to the family (she's 7 months old now :) ) means I need more space. 2 adults and 2 kids going on vacation is alot more stuff that last year. I've been looking at the Thule Atlantis 1600 (used), Pulse L...

For all those so-called car experts! Read this...You might need it.

In the world of clay bars, Meg's and Mother's are two of the 'finest', as in least aggressive, so as not to scare the basic, home user with marring. If you want to try a good clay bar, step up to Clay Majic. More aggressive than Meg's and Mother's, but won't leave marring like some of the even...

Mazda5 Tires: Issues & Replacement Recommendations

Had four new Yokohama Avid Envigor H tires installed about a month ago now (stock 205/55/16 size for Canadian GS models). Only about 1,000,000 times better than the stock Toyos at everything. Excellent in the rain, and quite lively handling too. Definitely a go-to tire for me now!

    Wheel rim scrape

Permatex has a kit out here, that includes some filler and a small bottle of silver rim touch up paint. It's about $20, and has everything you need. I saw it at Walmart, and have been tempted to try it on my damaged rim. -Ryan

rear brakes squeak in reverse first thing in the morning...

I had the same issue on my old Mercury Sable, lubed the caliper pins well, problem went away. I need to do it on the 5 as well...

Has anyone installed an "HD" lip?

Blackout, where did you use the screws, and how many? I'm assuming only 4 or 6 at each transition/bend, but just want to make sure. I figure it will give me a little protection with the parking barriers.

    Blown rear shock

I've had my rears replaced, and so has a good friend of mine who also has a 2008 5. His is just a tick over 41,000 kms, all highway, and mine were done around the 35,000 km mark.

    Leaking rear shock, Canadian winter

I've had both rear shocks, as well as rear sway bar bushings replaced on my 5. I blew out one shock (nice 'bang'), and the other was leaking.

Recommend a good dealer in Ottawa???

Check out http://www.ottawamazda.ca for more reviews. I purchased from Kanata, and have had some work done there, and been pleased with them. I've also had work done at Carling, but found it more expensive (paid for convenience). I had 'issues' with purchasing at Bank Street and I won't set...

    New Rims.....For free!

Canadian Tire has the best tire machine in your area? Wow... Rough area. :D Not the first time I've heard of issues with Canadian Tire... :) Glad to see they are looking after you though, rather than leaving you in the cold like some do around here.

    Any experience on SNOW?

Keep in mind, BF Goodrich Winter Slaloms are a snow tire, not an ice tire. They will work better than an all season in the winter, but they won't grip like a Yoko IG20, Toyo Garit, Blizzak or Michelin X-Ice. They don't use sipes in the same way in the tread, so they aren't as good in ice, slush...

Buying a GT at a $2500 premium at the time for a table between the middle row seats wasn't a huge selling point... :)

Roof Rack For The Mazda5 Thread

My buddies' Mazda3 Sport has the holes... (dunno) His is a 2008. Would the racks be the same though?

Brakes to be replaced after 50 000 kms!

I believe warranty only covers the first little while on brakes, since they are technically a consumable. You can contact your dealer and see what the coverage was, and get a reimbursement from Mazda. If the brakes were 'shaky' (made a pulsing feeling through the pedal) then the rotors were...

    Daytime Running Lights

My 08 has them on the low beams/projectors... :( If I could cut them over to the high beams, I'd be happy.
