Does your service department suck this bad?

Thankfully I have a good service department... NOW. The dealer we purchased from performed the check-off and signed off without showing us and it took me a month to get them to repair a minor dent that was a result of damage on the lot before we picked up the car. After that run around, I...

My Mazda5 vs. Glacier National Park (One of America's BEST drives)

Glacier is a great park and a good drive. Now if you can head a little farther west, the Rattlesnake Grade in SE Washington/NE Oregon is probably one of Americas great undiscovered drives. Nothing lights up a smile more than the yellow squiggly sign with an "advised" 25 MPH... for the next 18...

Ford Transit Connect Family One Concept

I could dig this concept. The wife likes the idea of the Honda Element, until we found out it only seats a max of 4. I think more cars could stand to have hose-out rubber floormats like that.

    New Rims!

I like it with the standard gap. Some of us need the extra ride height.. (even if a little drop looks better). I just can't see navigating a foot of snow in a dropped 5 (though it mike make a bit of a plow)

Whatis the proper pressure for 17" tires

For the record, the "Proper" inflation is on the door placard. IT is the pressure that the vehicle was designed to use for best compromise of safety, ride, handling, etc. That said, I like to run a little higher, as I have seen real, but small MPG gains (1-2 MPG if driven carefully) at 38 PSI...

    limited slip diff possible?

Interesting concept being out out here about the LSD. I'll try to only put forth my insights, as I don't see much value in arguing about driving styles and so forth. I can see the ida odf an LSD helping, as the tip in on my 5 at least is pretty abrupt. Granted, it is the wife's car so I don't...

    Mazda5: The modern compromise

The really selling point abut the 5 is the drive. We went to a Mazda dealership to drive an MPV that was still unsold and being offered ludicrously cheap. I had nice power and was very comfortable, but it handled a bit like a boat (body roll was too much for me). We then get into the 5, and...

    Mazda5 on PBS' Motorweek...

Nice to finally see an updated review of the 5 from MW. Now, I have to say, that they just plain never meet a car they can't say something nice about. That said, I have read the previous review and they do seem to like the 5. I also have to admit I have watched a lot of MW over the years and...

Anyone hit a 100k miles yet?

What is wrong with people these days?... My 77' Volov had something like 1186,000 on the odometer when I finally gave it up! Of course, that was the second speedometer, because the original broke, so the car had more like 220,000-250,000 miles on it! These day, as lot less tame. The '07 5...

    Minivan of the future

Why am I envisioning an add campaign here. It can Haul (as in cargo/people) and it can haul! (as in quick) Zoom Zoom... (The Diesel 5)

    Mazda 5 Turbo

It's kinda funny following this thread and seeing how universal the appeal for the 5 really is. Honestly, I'm not much into modding of my cars, but appreciate the aftermarket stuff that is there if I ever wanted to go that route. Frankly, most of the suspension and wheel/tire stuff would...

    What IS the Mazda5, Anyhow?

I agree that for everyday duty the 5 seems pretty peppy, but it does take some effort to execute the 2-lane highway passes. Then again, that's how it should be in my book. I've never really had fast cars (heck, the 5 has more HP than any car I've owned), but never once felt that I wasn't going...

    What IS the Mazda5, Anyhow?

Hmmm... so if sliders don't equal minivan, do that make the 5 a Tall Hatch with same really tricked out suicide doors? (eyeballs)

    What IS the Mazda5, Anyhow?

Well.. how about a new acronym: SMV: Sport Mini Van. I have though off and on and the 5 is truly a minivan as it was conceived in the early Chrysler days. What we call Minivans now, should really be considered car-based full sized vans. Also, looking at the current trend "hatchbacks" are...

Automatic Transmission - 4 spd vs. 5 spd

They always try to get you with fees. We were offered out '07 at Dealer Invoice, so we went over to Edmunds.com and Printed Out the TMV price including all options, along with our location (to get the destination charge). The wife got to do bargaining this time and set a hard line,: The car...

What is the lowest temperature recorded on your Mazda5?

Awww man, I don't have the thermometer. I so think the worst seen was about -10 or -15F (thank you insulated garage!! It was about 20F after a week of -10 or worse). I did manage, however to drive the 5 with snows in about 18-20 inched of snow last winter! Well less driving and more like the...

Automatic Transmission - 4 spd vs. 5 spd

Just my 2 cents. We have an '07 4spd auto and routinely drive in Southern Idaho with 75MPH speed limits, so it's kinda like California freeway, but less traffic. The 5spd auto would be nice, but not $5k nice to me. Even driving at 80 MPH all day, we still can get about 28MPG realistically. I...

    Mazda5 advertising

Does anyone else find it interesting that Mazda appears to use fleet sales as "advertising" for the 5? I know that rental fleets have long been the dumping ground of past-prime American sedans, but it seems like putting 5s in rental fleets at least gets people driving them. Other than that...

What new tires do you recommend?

If you want to go for a 215/50 R 17, you might look at the Nexen CP641. Just put a set of 195/50 R 15s on my Toyota Echo and am very pleased so far. I just don't drive aggressive enough to warrant a full on UHP tire. Out 5s Toyos are holding up pretty good (though they are summer only tires)...

    Goodbye summer mode...Hello winter mode

Lol! I've never done the rims in winter thing, but the steelies do get dull looking after a while. On the plus side, just got the rims back on for summer and they sure look nice! I also finally got around to getting real wheels for my ride (the 5 is the Wife's). No more plain-jane econocar...
